Your Morning Dump… Where IT made some kid’s day.

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big story line. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

“I was kind of just like dribbling with my mouth open and looking at him, maybe waiting for him to say something,” Robbie said. “He was like, ‘Can I shoot with you?’ And I’m thinking, ‘Can I shoot with you? Is this actually Isaiah Thomas?’ ”

And so the NBA All-Star and the boy who had just finished his nerve-racking first day of high school at Cambridge Rindge and Latin started shooting baskets together on the court that had some puddles and traffic cones on it. Thomas asked Robbie his name, and then said that his name was Isaiah. Robbie chuckled because he knew that.

Man, doesn’t that just get you in the feels, a little bit?

Page 3: Where Iverson and Thomas form a mutual admiration society

Isaiah Thomas recently appeared at Allen Iverson’s gala, which is cool because both guys approach (or approached) basketball like height doesn’t matter. Height does matter, of course, but you couldn’t always tell while watching Iverson ruin taller guys, and you can’t always tell when Thomas does the same thing. Over and over, the two players have proven relentlessness and skill can overcome a great size differential.

No real surprise here. Both of these guys are quick to praise players they admire, and both of them are pretty fearless when it comes to driving the lane, absorbing contact and bouncing right back up afterwards. And if IT isn’t as electric as AI was, IT might be able to stretch his career out a bit longer. Iverson was all but done by the time he was 32.

I remember when I was about that age, I had ditched school and was wandering around UCLA and somehow found myself inside Pauly Pavillion rebounding shots for Kiki Vandeweigh. I didn’t even know who he was at that point and probably not many people did either, but I was just amazed anyone could shoot that well.
