Your Morning Dump… Where the boys are back in town (kinda)

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

I don’t think Marcus Thornton is looking to buy a home in the Boston area. Just about everyone expects Danny Ainge to ship Thornton out of town, eventually:

Tyler Zeller and Marcus Thornton, both acquired via trade on July 10, are now eligible to be included in trades in which they can be paired with other Celtics players.

The NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement does not allow teams to trade players acquired via exceptions for at least two months following the deal’s completion.

However, Zeller is not expected to be on the trading block anytime soon. In fact, he will be the hunt to start at center this season.

As for Thornton, he’s more likely to be moved at some point prior to the February trade deadline in part because of the team’s logjam in the backcourt.

vitor Sherrod did not elaborate on exactly whom is working out in Waltham.

I suspect Vitor Faverani is part of the group because he’s posted a few photos on Instagram.

Jess Camerato and the crew at Basketball Insiders have released their season preview for the Celtics.

More talk of trading Rondo (I’m against) and Jeff Green (I support), developing the young guys and getting a high draft pick.

If you scrolled down, you will note the best case scenario involves a worse record.  That is because this season is all about developing talent, both for internal development and to potentially land a star via free agency or trade.  An improved draft pick would also help the rebuilding effort along as well, but this scenario is all about trading the older players and letting the young guys play. Rondo and Jeff Green are traded, hopefully for something amounting to a first-round pick between the two of them, while the team manages to buy out Wallace so he can sit on a contender’s bench.  That opens the door for Smart, James Young, and Olynyk (probably the most promising of the young bigs due to his mobility) to play at the expense of the 2014-15 record.

Breakout year for Jared Sullinger. Book it.

On Page 2, an update on the Celtics dance team.

Enjoy your day!

All I can say is…I chose the wrong career…should have become a photographer…

I would love to see Sully and KO have breakout seasons and show significant improvement. Can the season start already though!!!!

    • John Granton

      Ouch!!!

  • Curt Hays

Idk what Acupunture really looks like, but if that’s what Vitor is having on his knee then I know why we keep having injuries. I’m a fan of Phoenix just because of their training staff. I am so tired of torn ACLs.

But our training staff and doctors is the leader in catching heart ailments.

      • Curt Hays

        Haha, touché.
