As much as id like to think that KO’s return would help our struggling D, I know its fools gold. He is 7′ but plays away from the basket and was never a good rebounder to begin with. Al for all his ” being in the right spot” has never been a good rebounder and thats where the D starts. IMHO the reason for this awfull performance on that end of the court is the new pieces getting accustomed.
Even with all of our continuity as a team we are incorporating 3 new players. Jalen Al and G Green. On top of that we havn’t had our full compliment of players on the floor at the same time. Im not worried just yet, its 6 games in. Just like we are unlikely to have the #2 offence in the league for the entire season, Im Positive that once we get all our pieces back and they figure out how to fit with each other we will not be the 29th ranked defense.

  Big reasons the defense was good last year was steals and forced turnovers. The current team is not there yet. Yeah, you can play some good defense with those 2 weapons, but my huge complaint is that the overall size of the current team will prevent it from being a good rebounding and shot blocking team. The current team is seriously flawed and Horford is not the answer to those flaws. Plus Tyler Zeller and Amir Johnson are not even close to the needed answers. The 2017 draft may provide an answer.

    Without a doubt the Celtics as currently constituted are not a title contender. I have said all along that a reasonable goal for us this year (regardless of how many wins we have in the regular season) is winning at least 1 round in the playoffs. We are the shortest team in the league average height wise and Steven’s desire to play small only reinforces that deficiency. I agree that Dannys next move should be to find a big or two who are primarily rebounders and rim protectors

      I know there were reasons, but I’m not so sure that letting Sullinger go was a smart move given the deficient size of the current team. He wasn’t tall, but he was a big body that is so sorely lacking. And he could grab a few rebounds.

Speaking of a shitty season so far: Too bad our pick might be higher than the Nets’ pick next Summer. My only hope is that Brooklyn trades Lopez away midway through the season to get a good draft pick in return. Otherwise our Nets’ chip won’t be a top ten pick.
