Brace yourself for Isaiah Thomas getting suspended

“The rule here is very clear,” Jackson said, “and it’s a very bright line, albeit that you’re making a decision on a very key player in this playoff series. And for that reason it makes it difficult but the league office is supported by the rules that all the teams and all the players are very aware of. And in my mind, he will get suspended for one game.”

After the game, Thomas said he did not fear any additional punishment because he did not mean to hit Schroder. Jackson believes the Celtics point guard’s explanation may not sway the NBA league office.

“I hear what Isaiah is saying,” Jackson said. “At the same time, if you look where the incident took place on the floor, in transition, it’s rare for a player to stop at that point on the floor, extend his hand and swing and make contact with a player. So if you’re waving to somebody in the crowd or a teammate, or motioning to a coach, I think that that reasoning doesn’t really hold water for me. So again, I think they’ll look at this. This is really tough. The fact that Isaiah is trying to absolve himself of any culpability here is not unusual. It’s unfortunate that it happened and the contact wasn’t severe, but it did happen and the rule is clear that he swung and in this case made contact with the player and should be suspended.”

I do not have a good feeling about this. The NBA doesn’t mess around when there’s contact to the head during a non-basketball play.

Some people are faulting Schroder for running directly at Thomas. That’s fine. But IT should have let the collision happen and maybe Schroder would be the one facing a suspension for a head butt. Swinging the hand is not a smart play. Isaiah needs to be smarter.

If he’s gone for Game 3, this series is over.

smh. IT, seriously?!? Schroder is a punk, you know this. You HAVE to be bigger than that. Leaders cant and dont do that BS. Wheres your head at>??!!?! Dam!

  • DC Swish

I love basketball but this is absolutely pathetic that this is suspension worthy.

    • Frank Aziza

Yup, if the NBA suspends a player for that, I’m done with watching this league. I thought the flagrant fouls were pathetic in that game.

  • Frank Aziza

Peirce had his words with that punk last season in the playoffs.

  • zippittyay

Through some Jedi mind trick IT4 somehow compels Shroooder to run right into him?

    • Kevin Gamble

Right?! That was just Isaiah saying “get off my punk!”

  • Rosalie Troy

Lots of crap going on last night, tell them to watch the whole game and see some other crap from the other side. this is ridiculous

  • Jester00

Chuck if he gone for Game 3 we are fine

Schroder is starting to remind me of another “Punk” playing in the East,…. J.R. Smith. He dropped Crowder with a spinning backfist that resulted in an injury and he didnt get suspended. There’s no way you can compare what Thomas did last night with Smith’s UFC finishing move last year! No suspension.

    • CFH

I can’t believe that didn’t occur to me! Good point.

    • Kevin Gamble

Agree completely and this WAS the first thing I thought of when self-important-Stu-Jackson decided to weigh in on the subject. JR threw a punch that injured Jae, and the league looks the other way!? it would be pure foolishness for this to have gone further with such a patty cake move glancing of the head. And did you SEE Dennis Schroder look to the floor and shake his head and lament being hit in the head in his post game?! Are you kidding me? Whatever babies. Their is blood in the water now, C’s!
