Report: Celtics showing “significant interest” in Cousins

Today is the day that players signed in the offseason can be traded, so that means today is also the official start of NBA rumor season…  and the Celtics are front and center in a new report:

Sacramento Kings All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins has drawn significant trade interest from the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls, league sources tell SheridanHoops.

Sacramento is listening, but the Kings are in a holding pattern and currently have no plans to make a deal despite sitting in 13th place in the 15-team Western Conference, the sources said.

But should owner Vivek Ranadive, general manager Vlade Divac and coach George Karl decide to change course, they have been made acutely aware what is available from the Celtics, Heat and Bulls.

We all know how these things go… these rumors and sources could be coming from anywhere. It could be Sacramento publicly saying they’re standing pat but lobbying through sources to bump up offers. It could be flat-out wrong. All I know is that they’re not going to stop until the trade deadline passes (much to Mike Gorman’s chagrin).

We can do without Cousins, but no matter what, NO BROOKLYN DRAFT PICKS IN ANY TRADES PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!! Let’s keep the Perkins trade as by far the worst move Danny has ever made. And that should be the end of it. PLEASE!

  • Falcon Falcone

no cousins, unless we are flipping him for Anthony Davis

  • Astarot

I was about to write just “no” but I’m gonna say take a chance without Brooklyn pick.

same people who want to avoid cousins like cancer, were going BS when we kicked Rondo out of town. Reality is both are difficult, but one is a legit HOF player and the other is an overrated PG and a biggot. I pray we get Cousins. And Ainge might as well throw everything we can at him, because one Cousins out weights Smart+Sulli+Young+NJ nets draft pick. And maybe more.

I bet Cousins has called people the same thing a thousand times. Just saying.

If we got boogie without giving up the nets pick, Thomas, Smart, Bradley or Crowder then I say do it. Hopefully being with Brad he can settle down. I know how people feel about him but superstars don’t come around often.

I’m a bit confused as to how you think we could get Cousins without giving up any of our assets.

Three way deal. Boston gets DMC. Washington gets Zeller, Jarebko and minni top 12 protected pick. Sacramento gets Gortat, sully, Young, Dallas pick, our 2016 pick and the Memphis 1st in 2018 (I think)

    ill pass on cancer.

  • Jester00

I will be angry, very angry, Hulk smash

Do I think the 2016 Nets pick is becoming overrated? Yes. But I do still want it really bad because the chance it could be Simmons has me salivating? YES

  • jrleftfoot

We need guys who can knock down shots. I`d be more interested in high quality wings than Cousins, but I`d take him for the right price. Its probably overvalued , but I`d hold that Nets pick. Just hope Ainge doesn`t use it on an undersized guard.
