Gorman: You don’t want Cousins in Boston

Mike Gorman joined Toucher and Rich today and, among the things he discussed was how much he DOES NOT WANT DeMarcus Cousins. Have a listen:

Let’s review the quotes:

“He’s just got issues and you don’t want to be dealing with those.”

“It’s a real democracy (in the Celtics locker room). To bring Cousins in the middle of that would be crazy.”

Strong words from Gorman on a favorite fantasy for some fans.

Let’s be clear about this though…. there is no pursuit of Cousins. He’s firmly entrenched in Sacramento at the moment and the Celtics don’t even really seem to be testing those waters. But Gorman speaks for a lot of people when he says bringing a hot-head like Cousins in would be too big a risk even for a team looking for a stud.

I’ll be honest, the way he just quit against the Celtics in Mexico City was disappointing. I know Brad Stevens is the malcontent-whisperer, but why even tempt fate like that? There has to be a better option.

I think Cousins is immensely talented. But he seems like a bad version of Antoine, in terms of his emotional state. But at least ‘Toine was always crazy competitive. And while he would slack on D at times because he was overweight, he never stopped trying to win games. DMC just completely gives up after a few bad calls, and starts ranting like a lunatic out there. I just feel like this would be a bad influence on our young roster, and be way too disruptive of what we’re trying to do.

In the words of NBA mean tweets, he is an “emotional lesbian”, also there’s this:

      • Curt Hays

I am a better person for having watched that.

    • Stefano Icecuber

We need ‘immensely talented’ players, absolutely!
If the price is right i’d take Cousins and hope that Stevens and our enviroment can turn it in a great player as his talent allows…

The perfect addition to this team would be Paul George.

Also random thought… As it looks now, Pierce may make it equally as far in the playoffs as the Celtics do. Might as well just come back to Boston next year, PP.

    • Curt Hays

Al Jefferson is a free agent in 2016.

      • Dave

As much as I would love his low post scoring, a good rim protector should be the number 1 priority.

      • Sean

        Hes a pothead

        • Curt Hays

That’s what I assume it is. Was the truth leaked?

          • Sean

Its the suspension that gave it away. 3 violations = auto 5 game suspension. The way its set up, every player in the league could fail tests and none of us would know until the 3rd offense and the 5 game suspension that comes w/ it.

          • Curt Hays

So the suspension for, say, cocaine would be different than 5 days, I guess?

Oh well. He probably needs those games off anyway. Pot laws are not helping this country.

          • Sean

All drugs got the same punishments. So et could be coked up and we’d never know until 3rd offense

    • Curt Hays

Okay, but how unbelievably bad ass would it be if P2 came back to Boston and made it back to the ship in 2016?

      • forever_green

        ShutThe/*#”Up‼

        That would be great.

      • KGino

That’s what I’m saying! “Might as well just come back to Boston next year, PP.” Make a final run with the team you started with.

  • bill_nair

    I want Boogie in Boston.

  • Sean

Lets just use the pick to draft someone. Unless they giving us boogie for evan turnover no thx.

  • Lee in Oregon

We have a great roster & coach now, lets see what they can do. Bradley & Sully are turning into stars right now, and Thomas will be on the all-star team. Go C’s!

Cousins is a very talented player, unfortunately you need to use a 747 to carry his emotional baggage for any game he plays in.
