Marcus Smart injures right hand in Summer League

smart hand injury

Marcus Smart left tonight’s Summer League “playoff” game with an injured right hand after landing awkwardly while diving for a loose ball.

Smart was really writhing and screaming in pain, which lead a lot of us to fear the worst. Luckily it wasn’t as bad as it looked.

I can’t tell you how much of a relief that is. This injury will go away in a few weeks, providing the X-rays confirm the diagnosis. Let’s just hope they don’t reveal something more sinister.

As for the question “why was he even in there?”… He’s still learning the game. This is a good chance for him to get reps with the new guys and work on a few things. Let’s not pretend he wouldn’t be playing basketball anyway. Let’s just hope he’s ok.

Hey, at least it didn’t happen in the shower.

Here is why he was writhing in pain, just look how bad that looks: https://mobile.twitter.com/Pat_Att/status/621879740241211396/photo/1

Thankfull he’s back out on the bench, they must be reset.

Funny how a hand that looks like it was run over by a 747, is considered “not that bad an injury” in this case. So far word is just dislocations.

      Fingers crossed!

      Too soon?

I wondered why they kept playing him after he looked solid in the first few games. Worst part is it’s his shooting hand. Watching our team blow a 4th quarter lead. This season is shaping up too similar to the last.

Rozier again with big shots down the stretch! Also good to see Young back out there, tonight should be a good confidence-boost for him.

When Smart went down I thought he’d broken his wrist (a la Delonte), hopefully this isn’t a serious injury.

Imagine what Tommy would say about T. Roze if he was commentating at the end of this game.

Most clutch Celtic of all time?
