Sources confirm both Marcus Smart and Terry Rozier options have been picked up. Makes sense considering their play and the rising salary cap. Other news out of Celtics practice today – Smart will make his season debut on Wednesday against Chicago after participating fully in practice. Smart sprained his ankle in the final preseason game.

James Young, who is also eligible to have his option picked up, has not been told one way or another if the Celtics were picking up his option.

Good news all around!

Smart will earn $4.3 million next season and Rozier about $1.9 million. Bargain basement money for both players. It appears James Young will have to play out the season as a pending FA.

Smart’s return – even a rusty one – will still help the offensively challenged second unit. As for Kelly Olynyk, he’s still about two weeks away.

Kelly is going to be an absolute Beast this season. Then, as Jordan Mickey starts getting more minutes, things will look better and better.

I hope you are right . I feel like Olynyk was just coming into his own when he got hurt. Also, Bradley`s recovery from shoulder surgery gives me more confidence.

I kinda have a history of referring to my own experiences with injuries when I comment on certain athletes. Honestly, beginning with the night that DeAndre separated Kelly’s shoulder, I have, so far, accurately predicted exactly how Kelly’s process would go. Back when the Cs were saying it only bruised, I was saying it would require surgery and that he’d be several months coming back. All that remains is for Kelly to rehab, focus on mobility, and get his shot back.

I’ll point out that I have all the accuracy that I had prior to surgery. I can throw a baseball with the same level of precision, and my jump shot has not suffered. I’m in my thirties now, so Kelly should heal up even better.

AB’s process was exactly the same except that he was younger still. AB likely will not have another shoulder issue until he hits 40 or 45, and really the only way for Kelly’s shoulder to sustain a repeat injury is as a result of similar contact…and it is stronger now because of the the rehab–Thanks Dr. Doo.

shoot, I hope we didn`t jinx Avery. they say he has been experiencing shoulder soreness.

Haha, I know I’ll get blamed if it requires surgery, but to quote Conor McGregor: [superstition is] “a form of fear”.

The soreness could be scar tissue that needs to be broken up or removed, but it’s more likely mild arthritis (which only really means that he will take longer to warm up before the game). As many shots as he took this Summer trying to improve, it could also just be fatigued.

            He looked fine tonight.

I mean, he was okAY. He was no Amir Johnson or anything.

Amir must have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Maybe he’s living in Larry Bird’s house

He said after the game that hitting the first one gave him confidence and he didn’t even look at the basket on the 4th. When he hit the first one I remember thinking “what the hell is he doing out there.?”
