I know I’ve been telling everyone that this is going to be a crazy summer… but wow this got real crazy, real fast.

Free agent forward Evan Turner has reached agreement on a four-year, $75M deal with Portland, agent Kevin Bradbury tells @TheVertical.

$18.75 million per year. Evan Turner. To play basketball.

Now… I will say that with the cap going berzerk the way it is, this contract in relation to the salary cap is about what a $12 million a year deal would pay ET… which makes a little more sense.

Still, Evan Turner is going get about $20 million dollars to play basketball, and potentially make more in the final year of his contract than Paul Pierce ever made in any year of his deals.

It’s a different world, folks. Good luck, Evan Turner… you were one hell of a wild ride for a couple of years.

This money thing is nuts!!!! Holy crap. Good for ET, he was a class act while he was here and provided some great plays on the court as well as some great interviews off the court. I guess our mid range jump shot percentage just took a big hit haha.

  Agreed, Evan Turner was a class act and on many nights the only player who could score a bucket for us. That being said, 75 million is absolutely insane! I would love to know what players like Larry Bird think of this new era in contracts?

blazers rely on 3s too much and are looking for safety mid-range pad when shots of their back-court don’t fall, so they get it and the rest of what they were missing since loosing batum, good money tho =)

    It still sounds like, “Anything for that cancer is ONLY acceptable if/after Horford turns us down” The only way we get Durant is he goes 1+1 in OKC, we get Horford and then do something intriguing next year and then get a very high pick in next year’s draft and convince him this is the best spot to win a title our East (without finding a way to piggyback LeBron) I can’t see him going to a readymade superteam like GS or SA after all the blowback LeBron got for Miami so it’s either LAC this year, staying in OKC, or us next year IMO

I wish him the best of luck. He was infuriating at times, but he always played with spirit and kept us alive in games. Having said that, I would never ever pay him that much money.

Ok, I’ll be honest I thought 12 maybe 14m/yr would be acceptable but I didn’t see that coming. Man that’s crazy free agency. Guys really getting paid.

Good for Evan! The Blazers always overpay, but the C’s just lost a key guy. Not sure who can come in and run the offense like he did. Evan oughta do something nice for Brad, like buy him a house….

if there are GMs willing to pay crazy money then sensible GMs like Danny will have a tough time. They probably may need to live today to pay tomorrow. Build brick by brick. Other overpaying teams will be overpaying teams.
