Report: Sixers, Hawks talking Teague for Noel swap

Faced with a glut of young big men and the #1 pick, it appears new Sixers GM Bryan Colangelo is ready to make a move:

According to a report by Shams Charania of The Vertical, the Sixers and Atlanta Hawks have been in talks on a deal that would send Nerlens Noel and a package of players to the Atlanta Hawks for guard Jeff Teague.

According to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, citing a league-source, Sixers shooting guard Nik Stauskas and/or small forward Robert Covington are the other players being discussed as part of the package the Sixers would need to give up to acquire Teague.

Teague averaged 15.7 points and 5.9 assists last season. The 27-year-old remains under contract through next season, which means the Sixers — albeit while owning his Larry Bird negotiation rights — could see plenty of competition league-wide to re-sign him with a rising salary cap next season.

Many writers/bloggers don’t understand Philly’s rationale for this deal. Why trade Noel (and more) for an older, in his prime player who can leave after one season?

The deal makes sense for Atlanta. They have Denis Schroeder waiting in the wings and need someone to take Al Horford’s place when he’s lured to Boston by Kevin Durant.

I don’t want Horford unless it absolutely means KD is coming here.

Especially since Horford will be overpaid.

1000% agree ….Horford is so overrated to me.

If Horford was a little younger he’d be exactly what this team needs.

The Celtics need to make a three way deal with the Sixers and Kings happen.

    Celtics get: DeMarcus Cousins

Kings get: Marcus Smart, Jahlil Okafor, Brooklyns picks in 2017 and 2018, and probly 16 or 23 from the Celtics this year.

Sixers get: No. 3 overall from Celtics and any other throw in picks/players.

Makes a lot of sense if the Kings want to move on from Boogie and jump start a rebuild. Sixers get 2 of the top 3 picks this year and make room in the front court. Celtics get Boogie and a nice attraction for KD.

Also, there’s absolutely no chance in hell this happens. Happy Friday.

Pass. Smart and four 1st-rounders (including all 3 Nets picks) is too rich for my blood, even though Boogie, when motivated, is a franchise center.

      Just root for the Kings.

So we give up everything for a guy nobody else wants who never took his team to the playoffs?

      • Red’s Cigar

Right, cause it’s a lock that we will draft three all-stars with those picks.

Cousins is the best big man in the league and is only 25. Never had a legit roster and plays in the loaded western conference. Would take him in a heart beat.
