Yeah, I know you’re sick of Kobe’s goodbye. The good news is that it’s just about over. But Nike basketball’s contribution to the cacophony is actually a nicely done musical tribute that says a lot about the farewell. It’s not lost on us that Kobe is orchestrating the whole thing much like he is the people in this commercial. Kobe basks in the hatred as much as the adulation, and he’s pulling the strings the whole way along.
Paul Pierce’s cameo comes out of nowhere… right ahead of Rasheed Wallace who actually carries a note. I think we need more Sheed singing in commercials.
So farewell Kobe… or good riddance if that’s more your tune. Basketball will be fine either way.
