VOD: Truth vs Lebron in a duel for the ages

KWAPT (@KWAPT) April 23, 2015 Red's Army Multimedia, Videos of the Day 5 Comments

With today being Thursday, and the Celts & Cavs getting ready to do battle, I thought what a perfect occasion for a great throwback video. The year was 2008. The Boston Celtics were looking to cap a fantastic regular season with their first championship in over 20 years. The Cleveland Cavaliers on the other hand were looking for their second Finals appearance in as many years, having been swept by the Spurs in 2007. The two teams met for Game 7 of their semifinal series on May 18th, 2008 and what a game it was. In an instant classic, Paul Pierce and Lebron James took turns hitting big shot after big shot. Pierce would finish with 41 points, Lebron with 45. The Celtics won 97-92 thanks to Pierce’s heroics, the “ghost” of Red Auerbach & a huge shot by PJ Brown with 1:21 left in the 4th. The C’s would go on to win Banner 17, and the seeds were planted for a rivalry between Boston’s Big 3 and Lebron James….

I can’t believe Delonte is not in the league anymore.

Lebron is a better player than Pierce. Pierce seems hasty and hostile these days, kind of like one of those get off my lawn kind of guys. He’s had a stellar career but there is no comparison on who’s better. LBJ is on a different level and can play all positions and defend. People will hate on LBJ (idk why) just to look cool and fit in with the rest of the haters. Pierce threw his former Nets teammates under the bus and that’s something leaders don’t do. LBJ is a leader and is capable of carrying teams on his back. People hate James and idk why..he’s not electrocuting dogs, not caught up in gun charges, or hasn’t had domestic trouble. People will say he ‘should have never left’ Cleveland….to those people would you leave your job for a better career opportunity and better pay at a place you’d enjoy living? Since when is it okay for teams to trade and cut players….but when a player leaves it’s disloyal?

No one here said Pierce was better. Lebron saying Pierce was the hardest person to play against (I don’t remember the exact quote) I think speaks volumes to how good Pierce actually is/was. This video is proof of how well matched these two players are. People hate on Lebron because he is the poster child of the NBA and he whines, flops and generally looks douchey at times. Not everyone is going to like everyone…But most people will respect his talent. And Pierce’s comments, can you really disagree with anything he said about the Nets…that team is a mess…And it was refreshing to see something that could be interpreted as negative with Ray Allen from someone who actually was in that situation. Not just the media who made it seem like a one sided affair. And I won’t even touch on that disloyal comment.

how does he look douchey? thats what I talking about above on how people hate on him for no reason other than bc the guy next to you says the same redundant thing. flop? dude you know how many other players flop besides lebron? pierce seems more ‘douchey’ for throwing teammates under the bus. thats not what leaders do. pierce had a good run at boston and he’s irrelevant now. im not a cleveland or lbj fan but have common sense to know greatness when i see it. i bet you would welcome lbj on your team with arms wide open even after you made those ignorant comments about him, sort of like how cleveland said they didn’t need or want him now are glad to have him back.

Pierce is far from irrelevant…have you not seen what he is doing right now to Toronto? Everyone does flop I didn’t say otherwise but when your the best athlete in the world and the face of the NBA it looks much worst, especially the whining when he doesn’t get his preferential treatment from refs. That’s what looks douchey. It’s just a matter of opinion. Everyone respects his ability to ball. Not everyone has to like the way he carries himself. And of course anyone would take the best player in the world, but that doesn’t change anything about how I feel about him right now. Also one could argue you have the exact same disdain for Paul Pierce given your comments.
