Mike Gorman: I think Boston in 6. Because look at the way they’ve played over the last 45-50 games. Last 40 games they have the 5th best defense in the league and 10th best offense in the league. Cleveland has the 20th best defense in the league. I think Cleveland can be exploited. I think Cleveland if we can get in their heads in games 1 or 2, we’ll see whether there is chemistry on that team, whether those guys are getting along or not.

I tweeted about a month ago, “Get on board the Celtics bandwagon, something nice is happening here and it is.”

GT: You’re serious. In six, Celtics?

MG: I’m serious.

Look, I’m a Mike Gorman guy. I go all the way back to his days broadcasting the Providence Friars and Big East basketball.

He’s a phenomenal broadcaster with immense basketball knowledge.

But Mike has lost his damn mind.

Or…

Mike is trolling LeBron and the Cavs? Not sure what good that would do.

I’m stumped. I don’t think you’ll find anyone alive who’d predict the Celtics as victors in this series. I’d be thrilled if the Celtics LOST in 6 games.

FWIW – LeBron’s focus in the 1st round of the playoffs is razor sharp. His record is 24-3. That’s better than Legend, MJ, Magic and Duncan.

It’s gonna take a miracle.

I like the call. We’re fans remember. We’ve won 8 of our last 10. We’re rollin. It’s not fun calling the Cs to lose. We have plenty of time to be rational when the playoffs are over. If anyone can figure it out, it’s Brad.

As much as I want us to be competitive and maybe win, all I really hope is that game 4 is good because that’s the game I am going to and I’ve got an amazing seat.

For people like us who are IMMERSED in Celtics coverage and in some of our cases, only Celtics coverage, it is hard to be subjective because the team is playing so well.

This is still Lebron, Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving and the Refs vs. Brad Stevens and his team of lovable scrubs.

I do honestly believe Lebron is very mentally fragile however, and if Celtics can miraculously take 2 out of the first 3, watch out. Any cracks in Cleveland will be exposed and Lebron will do what he always does, and quit.

But in reality, Cleveland in 6. I do think the C’s will prove more up to the task than anyone expected them to be (besides Mike Gorman)

I was wondering if Red’s Army was going to do an article on this.

I find Mike Gorman to be a very intelligent, competent, excellent commentator and I always listen when he makes predictions or assessments.

I do believe its possible that we can win games in this series, BUT

Like I wrote here yesterday, the officials absolutely 100% are going to help Lebron, Kyrie, and Love here if things get dicey.

If the Celtics can actually start threatening to win the series, Lebron is going to get calls that make no sense, and all we can do is pray that Kyrie and Love don’t get the same treatment.

The Cavs are going to be allowed to foul the Celtics at key moments and there will be no whistle, because this is what the NBA has become. They won’t let Lebron struggle and fail in the first round if they can help it.

  Thank you Rod! Glad to see I’m not the only one that realizes that the outcome of “Many” games in this league is determined by the officials! This is evident throughout the NBA, not just pointing this out because I’m a Celtic fan. It gets worse in the post season! Superstars equal huge earnings for both the league and the television networks.

Wasn’t there was a time when Bradley was one of the best Lebron defenders in the league? The Celtics will have to play rough to throw Cleveland out of sync. I’d love them to upset Cleveland, but I wouldn’t bet my house on it. Bass and
Sully will have to play their best (along with many others)

  Bradley has always been a great PG & SG defender. I don’t think he’s every been able to cause problems for Lebron though. I think you’re confusing it with Dwayne Wade. He absolutely shut down D-Wade a few times back in 2012.

I love Mike, but none of this matters. This season is a resounding success, and whatever good comes of the playoffs is gravy. We now have a foundation to, with key additions, make things interesting in the Eastern Conference for years to come.

I think Lebron’s 1st round record is overblown! It has more to do with his extremely weak 1st round opponents than his “focus”. MJ went up against a perrenial contender in Larry’s Celtics in the first round for multiple years before breaking though. Duncan has played 2 times more 1st rounds than Lebron & lost to the Lakers a few times i think. As for Magic, Lerbon’s simply played in more playoffs than him…i don’t think LA ever made anything less than the WCF during Magic’s era.

I’m just ecstatic we get THE CHANCE to take LeBron and his lackeys out in the first round. If the Cs can pull this off it would be the sports story of the year!

At a minimum, Cleveland will have their hands full. With great coaching and great effort, especially defensively, the C’s can definitely do some damage here. Can they win this series? It certainly cannot be ruled out. Almost everyone except Mike will not vote against LBJ, but Cleveland will have to be on top of their game too. Go C’s!!!

The most likely outcome is a four game sweep by Cleveland but I can also see a possibility of a six game series as well. In any case, Cleveland is going to have its hands full contending with these Celtics who are so much fun to watch.

  Yeah. At this point, it’s really unpredictable what going to happen. It could be a four game sweep by Cleveland. But in other years when the C’s entered the playoffs as a low seed, you knew it was totally hopeless. It doesn’t feel that way this time. With some even predicting the C’s advancing. It will be interesting. The C’s and coach Stevens will gain great experience going against LeBron regardless of the outcome. Great preparation for future series.

    I agree – it feels much different that other instances. I am very interested in seeing how Stevens coaches the playoffs. I liked what he did at Butler at the Final four. Almost made it. He may well have more surprises for al lof us.

I’m really happy we are playing the cavs. If we can win 1 game, I’ll be happy. The thing I’m hoping our guys get out of this series is experience. Crowder/lebron smart/Kyrie. Lots of lessons they can learn going forward in those match ups
