Report: Nate Robinson is coming back

The Celtics are on the verge of bringing back Nate Robinson…

I know some people are going to get excited by the headline, but this is a strictly salary cap move. Robinson makes $2.1 million as compared to Nelson’s $2.7 million. Robinson’s contract is also truly expiring whereas Nelson had a player option for next year.

And before we get TOO excited, I wouldn’t be surprised if Robinson is bought out. If he’s not… well… let me just say someone needs to be on the inactive list.

I guess I don’t understand why we would buy everyone out.

Once we are under the cap, what does it matter?
    Why not play Nate?
Are we just trying to play the new guys?

    I’m confused.

    • Jaedre

I agree! At least Nate will make the games fun again

      • Curt Hays

Almost once a month I watch all of the videos from that season.

      • bill_nair

        One of my favorite videos.

      • KGino

That would have been such a fun year if Shaq could have somehow stayed healthy

    • Sean McLaughlin

I’m hearing the Clippers want him… Here come some more second round picks that Danny’s so fond of… :-/

      • Curt Hays

So Doc wants Big Baby and Nate on the same team again…wow.

        • Sean McLaughlin

So sayeth twitter. Says they like him as a backup at point. He definitely isn’t the Nate Robinson that we had before, but he’s better than Nelson anyway. I’m frankly surprised Denver made that deal. Sure they have a good reason though. Danny probably promised them Kelly, Sully and Zeller for a ham sandwich and a piece of Bazooka Joe. Lol

          • Mike C

Hilarious! “Bazooka Joe”, Good one Sean! At least its nice to see our fans still have a sense of humor as Ainge continues his personal Odyssey to send the Celtics into Basketball Oblivion!

          • Sean McLaughlin

            Indeed.

    • KWAPT

      It’ll save them around $700K.

  • KWAPT

I’d think he’ll be bought out too. He’s a shell of his former self anyway-been banged up all year.

    • Curt Hays

Get started on the Jameer Nelson tribute video.

      • Sean McLaughlin

        Lol!

    • Sean McLaughlin

Sources are saying the Clippers want him…

  • KGino

    Yes!! Bye Jameer!

    • Brad P

That game against NY was really memorable

      • Coolrapquote

There’s a really good “NBA big” commercial that I never saw air on this game. Search the net for “Paul Pierce nba big commercial” if you care to check it out. It’s pretty awesome.

  • CFH

We’ll always have the Shrek and Donkey game.

  • forever_green

    Why would anyone want Nelson?

  • Coolrapquote

Nate Robinson had some pretty big heat check moments as a celtic. He would nail back to back triples all of the time.

  • Sean

KryptoNate! Giving him and Perk away while the championship window was still kind’ve open was the worst move of Danny’s career. I was glad to get him and 09 and I hope we play him now. Give him Turners minutes!

  • bill_nair

I really hope he plays when I go to the game Friday.

    • Curt Hays

What jersey will you wear? No one is left! I think you have to wear a KG or PP jersey.

      • bill_nair

I bought a RR jersey before he was traded with the intent on wearing it to this game. I’ll probably wear that or my PP jersey.

        • Curt Hays

Go with Rondo. Much more sensitive issue than P double.

          • bill_nair

Im sold. Its hard to buy a jersey of a player you know is going to be gone any day (bought it 3 days before the Dallas trade), but it brings me one step closer to getting the entire starting 5’s jerseys from the championship team.
