“A lot,’’ was his response when asked how many people believe he is a
grouchy dude. “But that’s how I like it though, honestly. It keeps the
riff-raff away. It keeps all the negative people away.
“[People think] I’m off the rocker, that’s how it is,’’ he said. “I have no problem with that. Guys have different perceptions of me on other teams, and coaches, too. ‘Aww, Wallace is a hothead and this and that.’
“But they would love for me to be on their team because I’m a team player. If we ever get in a scrap, I got my team’s back. No matter from the first man down to the 15th man, the coaches included.’’Sheed is the perfect example of the player you love to hate, but would kill for him to be on your team.
Meanwhile, Wallace continues to impress Doc Rivers with his high basketball IQ:
It’s amazing listening to him. I’ve had numerous college coaches who
are watching practice come up to me and say, ‘Man, that’s the loudest
defensive talking team I’ve ever seen. I’ve never seen anything like
it.’ It’s good because it’s on both units now. In the past, it’s been
on the starting unit. When we had (James) Posey, there was some from
the second unit. Now with Rasheed, he’s got Baby (Glen Davis) talking.”
This team is going to be better defensively, than the 2007-08 team. The rest of the league should be scared, real scared.
