Did Danny Ainge just talk trade with Kevin Love’s agent?

Love Injury

Via Real GM (by way of CBS Sports):

Danny Ainge attend a workout with Excel Sports Management clients in New York City recently and met with prominent agent Jeff Schwartz, a league source told RealGM’s Andrew Perna. Schwartz represents Love, as well as Harrison Barnes, who will be a restricted free agent this summer.

Brandon Ingram, the presumed No. 2 pick in next week’s draft is also a client of Excel, but Ainge is believed to have inquired with Schwartz about whether a trade for Love could be revisited. The Celtics hold the third, 16th and 23rd picks in the draft, as well as five second-round picks. The Celtics have already been linked to Jimmy Butler of the Chicago Bulls in rumors.

Love does not have a no-trade clause in his contract but I doubt Danny Ainge would pursue a deal if Kevin wasn’t 100% in favor of a move. It’s become painfully obvious that you just can’t throw Love on a team and expect him to put up 20 and 10.

Jeff Schwartz also represents Paul Pierce. Hmm…

While there’s free agents that are better options than Love, replacing Sully with Love would still be an upgrade of epic proportions.

If they did and didnt get a defensive center, could you imagine KO and love guarding the paint……It would be disasterous

      • Michael Biscardi

If you bring in Love, you need to feel comfortable enough with Whiteside to throw a max deal at him. Assuming Bradley goes and the #3 pick stays, adding Hield to that mix would make for a fun, balanced lineup to watch.

..imagine KO and Love “NOT” guarding the paint..fixed it for you.

Did you not see the disastrous part?

          • forever_green

Yes I did, that’s why I upvoted you.

    Replace Sully with Okafor

danny could do nothing except bring back PP and I’d be ecstatic with the off season lol

    • forever_green

I’d like this also, Paul just belongs in green and nobody appreciates him more than C’s fans, but At this point I’d be shocked if he comes back, I felt last year was the year to come back. I would like to know though if DA extended the courtesy of coming back.

Danny did mention before that when PP is ready there will be a spot for him. Not specific whether as a player or front office position but regardless I hope PP comes back after some nice moves are made to elevate this team to more contender status. That would be the perfect scenario for PP to go out and well deserved.

        • forever_green

Ah yes I do remember this as well, I took it as a front office spot, but your right he wasn’t specific.

The fix was in tonight for LeBron. Pathetic

First time I’ve seen a finals game decided in the first two minutes of the game. Three fouls against the Warriors in the first 90 seconds! Five fouls in the first two minutes, “All” called against Golden State. Its impossible to win a series when your forced to battle against a “Cheating” officiating crew as well! Thanks to Tim Donaghy for exposing this “Trash” a decade ago. Too bad the league still doesn’t care enough about the fans to address the worst officials in professional sports!

      • Mike C

Note: I’m a lifelong Celtics fan! I dont care about Golden State or Cleveland. Some of us get accused of being poor losers when we bring up the issue of officiating after a Celtics loss. I raise the issue no matter what teams are on the floor, because its a problem “Every” fan is forced to endure year after year! The officials in this league are a true “Disgrace!”

I hope it wasn’t about Barnes impending FA and I don’t want Love unless it’s a biggest bargain in NBA history. This year’s playoff has showed his real value on championship caliber team. Sure he can still be better than that but nowhere near what most people thought he could be (center piece of a franchise).

Well I hope we buy low on Loveif we go that route. I kind of resent that
he spurned us for Cleveland in the 1st place. He may not be utilized
properly in Cleveland and all that but the couple times Ive seen him
get the ball in the low post in the finals, hes been eatin alive either
getting blocked, stripped, or fumbling it out of bounds. His lack of
athleticism being exposed. We already know he has no D, something the Cs
do well and dont need the liability. Boston picking up that huge
contract and having to trade picks and/or players….no thanks.

      THIS!!!

I’m worried that in a few years Love will look like the second coming of David Lee (When he was good). Puts up stats, Lee averages about 17 and 10 for 6 strait years, but ultimately a complete lack of defense and killer instinct makes him not a piece on a winning team.

But then again our shooting is so bad that like in Minn Love’s rebound totals will prob shoot through the roof again.

    Pierce. Do it DA.

There is no need to add defensive liabilities to the Green roster. That means a strong “NO THANKS” to Mr. Love. If Danny goes after him and succeeds, it will be his second worst move of all time.
