Report: Lakers believe Durant and Westbrook are coming

This juiciest of juicy hot takes comes to us from none other than Stephen A. Smith (SB Nation/via ESPN 710 AM):

Keep in mind this, one of the biggest reasons, I’m told, that Kevin Durant may have the Lakers at the top of his list, is because the Lakers have been led to believe, by whom specifically I do not know, but the Lakers have been led to believe that it is a very good chance that the following year Russell Westbrook is coming.

Let’s set aside the fact that Jim Buss and Byron Scott are bumbling fools, and just about every notable free-agent has bypassed the Lakers franchise over the last few years.

The Lakers signing Westbrook is plausible because the guy is a Long Beach native and UCLA alum. But I’m highly skeptical that Kevin Durant is carrying some sort of tandem mentality into free-agency.

I’ll go out on a limb and say the chances both players signing with the Lakers is 0.00001%.

The “biggest” report, Stephen A. (trying no to use a f word) and his sources- why am I not surprised….

    • Dave

He also apparently “known (insert a player name) for a very long time”.

  • tvor03

Let LA have Westbrook. He’s a smaller version of Carmello.

  • Adam Stark

I can’t wait until KD signs a 5 year deal with OKC and shuts the lakers up.

      or with Boston :-X

I’m starting to believe Stephen A. Smith doesn’t know what the fuck he is talking about. He is an ESPN puppet, hates everything about New England and loves the LA area. Fuck that guy.

    • CelticsNextGeneration

Your “starting” to believe that? This guy is 2 clicks above sports retard where Chris Broussard lives.

      • adam

I was being nice. But with Stephen A. Smith we shouldn’t be, because the guy is a fucking asshole. I don’t value his opinion at all or his knowledge. I have hated him for years.

        • Dave

I just love seeing him go at it with Skip, I do prefer Skip’s opinion and knowledge over Stephen’s. Stephen A. is also a New Yorker and a homer for his Knicks so I’m not surprised he’s also hating on New England.

Lakers have a long history of getting the superstars they want, only a fool would bet against them.

With Kobe gone….they`ll have a boatload of money to spend, they`ll likely get the #2 pick in the draft, they already have Clarkson/Randel/Russell.
    Talk about “acquiring assets”!

Their recent history isn’t great so I’ll be a fool

As PT Barnum said….”there`s one born every minute”.
