This ranking system comes to us from the analytics nerds (meant in an endearing way) at ESPN Insider.
If you were curious where the Celtics strength of schedule stood in comparison to other teams, know that it’s near the top.
But before you plan your draft lottery party, know that the difference from #1 to #30 translates to about a half game in the win column.
One other note about the C’s schedule:
The New York Knicks have the biggest built-in advantage from the schedule, with 55.5 percent of their games coming against opponents with equal or fewer days of rest. At the other end of the spectrum is Boston at 43.9 percent.
Shocking that the league would give the hapless Knicks the biggest built-in advantage (conspiracy!).
As a whole, the league’s schedule is softer. There are fewer back-to-backs and stretches of 4 games in 5 nights, and 3 consecutive days off along with slightly less travel time.
