Trade market for Reggie Jackson is weaker than expected

The Sporting News’ Sean Devaney updates us on 15 inhabitants of the trading block. Inside the slideshow we find two references to the Celtics:

Reggie Jackson

Heading into free agency, Jackson has picked a poor time to struggle with his shooting (42.7 percent, and 27.9 percent from the 3-point line). His minutes have been on the wane since the acquisition of Dion Waiters, and the Thunder have found the market for Jackson weaker than expected.

Jackson went to Boston College and has thus been linked to the Celtics, though it’s unclear whether Boston would trade for him or hope to sign him as a free agent.

Brandon Bass

Surely, Bass must be looking around at the decimated Celtics roster and wondering, ‘What about me?’ Bass is having a good year and doing his usual thing—playing defense and knocking down midrange jumpers—while also slated to become a free agent this summer.

He’s a perfect rental for a postseason aspirant. Still, interest in Bass has been slight to this point, though teams like Phoenix and Portland are possible destinations.

I’d like to think Jackson would be on the Celtics radar regardless of where he played college ball. His offensive skills would be a great complement to a Bradley and Smart backcourt. It’s nearly certain OKC won’t match any offers (likely $12-14 mil per year) Jackson gets as an RFA. But would Sam Presti have the balls to make another deal that impacts his rotation?

I still think Bass ends up traded at the deadline. Not sure where or for what, but he will get dealt.
