Rajon Rondo makes Mavs debut

Rajon Rondo made his debut for the Mavericks tonight at American Airlines arena in Dallas. In Dallas’ 99-93 win over the Spurs, Rondo tallied 6 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds & 2 steals in 34 minutes. Rajon shot 3 of 11 from the floor and had 4 turnovers.

Haven’t seen rondo play like this in a while, on the ball defense, active on offensive rebound, he must have been bored in Boston. Gonna miss him

  Cause he’s on a contender now, he hasn’t played like this since PP and KG got shipped out. I don’t think I’ll ever get use to seeing him in those colors nor the others from the 08 team as well.

Man that was weird. I think in one game with the Mavs he drew as much charges as he did with the Celtics all season. Other than that, he looked the same.

Rondo looks like he belongs in a futuristic v neck jersey. The old school traditional celtics jersey never fit him well imo

Thankfully, as much as I’ll miss him in Boston, I’ll never miss watching him miss jumper after jumper again. His shot still looks awful.

Seeing it makes it easier. I’ve been watching Parsons since he was a Gator and he wasn’t a crazy shooter before going pro. Monte Ellis might not mesh well with Rondo but Parsons will. They’ll be a fun team to watch. I just hope Smart wrecks the league now.

  I agree. Rondo was meant to run. It’s like having a cheetah tied up in someone’s backyard and he just paces around all day. He’s now free to run like he’s supposed to. After seeing Ray 1st, then Paul & KG, I am numb to it. I’ll root for Rajon & the Mavs to go all the way, which will be easy as I’ve always liked Dirk, Carlisle, Barea & Ellis.

  Yes, it is. So you facetiously offer one game versus the San Antonio bench as a valid comparison to 187 games over the last 3 years? Tell me, exactly how many consecutive games would it take for you to consider such a stat in any way indicative of anything? 500?

  Shows a clear decline over the last 3 years which we have all been witness to. Maybe his problem is purely mental, I don’t know.

We are so far away from banner 18, its not even funny. Why would anyone want to come here knowing DA will eventually ship you out. We already have a bad history of getting free agents. Now it will only be tougher.

  That’s why on the business side of things I understand the trades that Danny made but from a basketball perspective it’s bad. When KG and Ray joined PP and company in Boston 7 years ago they helped restored a strong proud identity that’s been missing from the Celtics for 2 decades. Those guys before that magical 07-08 season even stated they wanted to make the Garden the hardest place for teams to come in and play as well as a place that teams are afraid of coming to play against.
  
  During that 6 year run Celtics were known to be grit and balls and bled green with pride. Everyone respected that identity and never counted them out even when they’re backs were against the walls. That’s how players even wanted to come here in the first place, you got vets who are winners and represent the great tradition and pride of being a Celtic.
  
  When KG and PP got traded they took 90% of that restored identity with them as well as the defensive mentality that KG brought here. When they traded Rondo they traded whatever was left of that identity and whatever little reason that gave to other players on wanting to come here.
