Evan Turner’s contract: 2 years, $3.2 million per

Chuck - Red's Army September 29, 2014 Celtics News, Evan Turner 8 Comments

A 2 year, $6.4 million contract isn’t going to sink any team’s salary cap, but I believe the Celtics overpaid Evan Turner.

There really wasn’t a market for the guy. Aside from Boston, Minnesota was the only team with reported interest in him this summer.

What would I have offered Turner? $1 more than his best offer, which might have been the veteran minimum.

I hope that second year is non-guaranteed. With the way Turner’s game has regressed, he should be playing for his next contract.

I’m having flashbacks to Jeff Green’s contract. Why do the Celtics insist on overpaying David Falk clients?

And for those who want to know about jersey numbers:

Is Dwight Powells # announcement just formal? Why no mention of the other invites #s?

I dont entirely think Danny overpaid for Evan. He certaintly would have gotten the mid-level or bi-annual exception from some team. I was thinking he was going to get the full MLE at around $5M annually. Im a bit pleased. Now hopefully he gets his head out his ass and learns to play bball.

Celtics have hired Leon Powe into the front office. Position still to be defined. “Whatever Danny wants me to.”
