9:26pm Finally some excitement. The girl doing the “Shot in the Dark” (where they blindfold you) sinks it on her first shot. It was the loudest the crowd got all night.

Fourth Quarter

9:29pm Michael Olowokandi and Sebastian Telfair both enter the game with 10:36 remaining. Down 31 points, the Celtics have finally thrown in the towel and don’t want anyone getting hurt.

9:30pm Kandiman turnover.

9:31pm With no one to talk to and a low battery, I throw in the towel and turn off my computer. Can finally sit back, relax and enjoy the game. Oh wait…

9:34pm No word on my Gerald Green poster. Guess I lost that too.

9:36pm A Telfair jumper. Been awhile since we’ve seen that.

9:38pm Kandiman throws down a dunk, but gets called for offensive interference. Come on, would that basket have changed the game? Just give it to him.

9:40pm The Dancers come out, but the crowd is still flat lining.

9:43pm Gerald charges to the basket and it looks like it could be a good play. Instead he turns it over. Time to put on the jackets.

9:44pm Time to leave. I don’t even look at the score or how much time is left. This was too ugly.

It’s tough to say no good came out of another loss. Jefferson had another solid night with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Pierce finished with 20 of his own and is getting his old form back. At 17-43 the Celtics are still in the Oden-Durant sweepstakes even after their little four game win streak. As long as they don’t pull off those shenanigans again things should be ok. Even if I don’t see a win all year.

The Houston Minutes

No One Wanted To Chat?  Well… Matty G still wants to talk… so you’ll just have to read it

Remember this:  Delonte West is listed at 6’4”.  In the real world, 6’4” guys get “how’s the weather up there” comments.  He looks like an Oompa Loompa in this picture.

Since no one joined the Matty G chat (blame goes to me, it was planned last minute) I decided to let you all in on what you missed. It’s time for the famous game minutes. Tonight was special because it marks a personal worst nine game losing streak. I had an eight game Red Sox streak a few years ago and I felt right from the beginning that tonight would be a historical evening.

7:30pm After going the wrong way and ending up in Chelsea we are finally in the Garden. As I walk to the media room to get the internet password, my friend Chris notices hundreds of boxes of various chips. They are all stacked up and have a piece of paper that says “Under Surveillance Do Not Touch”. What kind of business are they running around here? Are those really just chips in there?

7:38pm During the opening video, Sebastian Telfair appears in the background of an Al Jefferson dunk. This may be the only time he is on the JumboTron. They also have a moment of silence for Alan Greenberg. He will certainly be missed in the sports world.

7:39pm Oh boy, Brian Scalabrine is in the starting lineup. It’s going to be one of those nights…

First Quarter

7:41pm Let’s see, Kendrick Perkins (6-10) goes up against Yao Ming (7-6) for the tip.  Who is going to win this one?

7:45pm Yao throws up a furious block on Delonte West. It’s only Yao’s second game back so he can’t be that good yet, can he?

7:47pm The crowd cheers for a wide open Scalabrine three but he passes up on it. The Celtics eventually turn it over on a travel.

7:48pm Perk blocks Yao. I was impressed for a few seconds, until I remembered that Nate Robinson did it before too.

7:50pm Paul Pierce gives Perk a nice feed, which ends up in a three point play. That cuts the score to 15-12 Rockets.

7:52pm Barely half way through the first quarter and the Celtics T-Shirt girls throw out the Parachutes. Guess they wanted to check out early. That’s not good news for us if the game turns into a blowout.

7:58pm Chris gives some solid commentary when he says Al Jefferson “spins off the catch” leading to a dunk. It’s a great play by Al, great call by Chris. (Don’t you wish you were at the chat now?)

7:59pm The Dancers do some sort of Cabaret number. Don’t ask why I know that, but it’s pretty provocative. They’ve come a long way since the start of the season.

8:01pm Out of a much needed timeout Big Al nails a jumper to cut it to a 24-16 Rockets lead. Could be another big night for last week’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week…

8:03pm Al makes a nice tip-in, only into the Rocket’s basket. At least Gerald Green makes up for it with a little sneak attack offensive rebound resulting in an easy lay up.

8:06pm It’s the end of the first and the Celtics trail 30-22. Toronto leads Memphis 49-39 so this is a must lose for the green. Nine in a row for me doesn’t sound as bad right now.

Al Jefferson puts up a big performance?  Check.  Celtics lose and stay in the Oden/Durant hunt?  Check.  Matty G is happy.

By the way… what is Chuck Hayes looking at in this picture anyway?

Second Quarter

8:09pm They announce a contest to win a free Gerald Green autographed Dunk Contest Poster. All you have to do is send a text message to enter. At least it’s something to do, since no one wants to talk to me.

8:11pm Dikembi Mutombo blocks Gerald and does his little finger wave. How cute.

8:13pm Send my 15th Gerald Green text and decided to give it a rest for awhile.

8:14pm Start to get “Thank You For Entering Texts” from the Celtics. Guess how many I get in a matter of two minutes…

8:18pm After two straight Al hoops, the C’s are within 14. A big night for Al and a loss would be the best of both worlds.

8:20pm Make that four straight Al baskets. He is up to 13 points and seven boards. The best stat is with 6:57 left in the second he only has one foul. Last season he would have had three by now. This is just another step into his maturation.

8:26pm I send a few more entries into the Gerald contest. Why not, it’s a 13 point game.

8:28pm Yao picks up his third foul on the night meaning Mutombo has to come back in. I can actually see the razor edges on his elbows.

8:33pm A bearded guy on the Fan Cam rejects a kiss from the lady he went with. The crowd boos for a bit and he finally gives in when they go back to them a few fans later. The best seats in the house for the rest of the night will be around this couple. Imagine how cold the ride home is going to be for those two. The good news is Tony Allen found it funny.

8:36pm Scal airmails a three and people start to boo him. These are the same people who less than an hour ago were begging him to take that shot. I see it as more of an “Oh Scal” moment.

8:40pm Since there are no chatters or excitement in the game I give Chris my laptop. He checks out www.hiphopsite.com and www.break.com. It’s come to this…

Halftime

8:42pm Lets go over the numbers:

Rockets lead 64-49

Tracy McGrady: 18 points, five assists

Al Jefferson: 18 points, 11 rebounds

Paul Pierce: 10 points

People Logged On To Chat: 0

8:43pm They cart out eight fans to play a game of knockout. I haven’t played that game in ten years. Now I definitely lost more games than I won, but this was a terrible game. So many airballs flying everywhere and people crashing into each other. I guess no one wanted to play good basketball tonight.

8:51pm More Gerald texts.

8:53pm No more entertainment at the half, so why not visit www.break.com again? This is abusing having the internet at a Celtics game.

We know a lot of you would just rather have Pierce sit down for the rest of the year… but he’s got stats to pad.  There’s a career scoring average at stake here people!

Third Quarter

8:57pm The kid that wins a Brooks Pharmacy gift card looks exactly like Gary Coleman.

9:01pm The “defense” graphic that they put up on the big screen has the old ball. The old new ball.

9:04pm
