Durant said he likes Boston and we all freaked out

This is not a test…

I repeat… this is NOT A TEST!!!

Kevin Durant…

Likes…

BOSTON!!

After fielding a question about the city, the Oklahoma City Thunder star was complimentary. Try not to freak out too much.

“I like the city a lot,” Durant said after a shootaround at the TD Garden. “It’s cold but they love sports here. It’s a family atmosphere I feel when I walk around the city. So yeah, I like it a lot.”

STOP FREAKING THE F OUT!!!

slap

Too late.

Oh wait that last one was me… sorry…

This is an intriguing possibility that I will not allow to grow beyond that (unless I’m fishing for retweets on Twitter). I do think there’s a path for it to possibly, maybe, potentially happen. It would sort of be the free agency version of how Danny Ainge built the ’08 title team… get the big supporting player, then get the BIG FISH.

The big supporting player would be Al Horford, and the Celtics would have the room to get both of these guys with the combination of free agents leaving (Amir Johnson & Jonas Jerebko for sure… and maybe also Tyler Zeller and/or Jared Sullinger) and newly created cap space. The Celtics will have a lot of money to spend and, if acquired through free agency, the C’s can pitch these guys on playing with most of the core that has competed for home court and a 50 win season.

It’s a compelling pitch… especially from a Boston perspective: You (Al and Kevin) get to join an up-and-coming team with an All Star in Thomas, a sorta borderline All Star two-way guy in Crowder, a couple of young defensive monster in the backcourt, and some nice bench pieces… you get one of the best coaches around… and you get to be part of that Paul Pierce/KG love-fest that makes you an icon here forever if you win a title.

It’s compelling, but not automatic. Durant also noted how cold it is here, and who knows what other motivation these guys have. So who knows how effective this pitch will really be.

But until then, I’m just going to sit here dreaming of the possibility of this photoshop I made 9 years ago eventually becoming a reality.

I guess they won’t let him wear #35?

    • Dave

Other numbers he wore growing up were 11 and 52 and 5 with team USA based on what I’ve seen.

      • Curt Hays

Well, he ain’t wearing 5 in Boston. 11 is taken.

        • Dave

          Unless they let Turner walk.

          • Curt Hays

Let’s think about this for a minute.

            Starting lineup: IT4/Bradley/Durantula/Sullinger/Horford
            2nd string: Smart/Turner/Jaesus/Jerebko/Olynyk

            Banner18

Edit: I forgot to point out that we’d also have the GOAT, Jordan Mickey to play any position at any time.

Dude stop me from thinking, my brain cant handle this

He does look good in green

  • P Funk

Wait, weren’t you guys rooting for Operation Oden??

    • Curt Hays

No, that was Evan Turner. Right school though!

    • We were.. but we also added “Destination Durant” in the back half of the college season as Durant burst onto the scene. But I readily admit I was an Oden guy.

      • P Funk

Oh I remember John. I’m just busting your balls…I was an Oden fan too. I discovered redsarmy during the losing streak that year…I needed someone to share in the misery. (posted in the wrong section)

While were all freaking out about ridiculous things, enjoy this draft simulation Reds army! ps. note LA.

    • Curt Hays

Maybe then we could get Okafor from Philly.

    • zippittyay

Does LA get picks from next year in this scenario?

  • Brad P

It’s a shame that Johnson’s salary is so high. In a dream scenario I’d love to pair him with Horford.
