Woj: Ainge ain’t paying premium prices for rentals

Premium prices = Brooklyn’s 1st round pick in 2016 and 2018. If Atlanta has decided to move Horford, then I’m pretty sure their asking price drops at 2:45pm.

As for Howard, I might give Houston the worst 1st round pick we have because he’d make the playoff push this year interesting. But after reading another diva tale out of Houston, I’m passing on him long term.

Meanwhile, the Herald’s Steve Bulpett says the Celtics aren’t overly enamored with Al Horford anyway:

The pick would not be in play for Al Horford, but that matter seems moot anyway. The C’s have had no recent talks with Atlanta about him, and, in addition to what the Hawks might want should they move him, it is clear from sources that the Celts are not willing to pay the 6-foot-10 center big money when he becomes a free agent in the summer.

I find it hard to believe the Celtics wouldn’t pay Horford big money. This smells like posturing.

Has there ever been a Celtics deal, rumored or actual, that Bulpett didn’t take a dump on?

In defense of Dwight Howard, who *would* play with James Harden?

(Not that I’d want to break the bank for Dwight, but I’d take him if he’s on fire sale.)

I’m with you. He eats into the shot clock. He’d be great playing for San Antonio or Doc Rivers.

I’ve officially concluded that no move will be made.

    • Curt Hays

But you’re wrong. David Lee will be moved or bought out. YOU’RE WRONG, JAKE.

Nothing will happen. We dont have valuable players that teams want. Smart,, Thomas, Crowder. Those are the players teams want. But thhose are our core. not happening. And we are not trading the BKN picks for fringe or declining stars

If teams want to pick from Lee, Zeller, K.O, Sully, Jonas, J.Young, Rozier, Mickey, Amir, Turner, and any of our picks not BKNs. We will talk.

If not. Expect a quiet deadline.

Chuck/author of above: I have a different take on your statement “I find it hard to believe the Celtics wouldn’t pay Horford big money. This smells like posturing.”. Its not a money-thing that would hold Danny back. Everyone knows Danny would likely pay Horford or anyone of his caliber big bucks. The big problem I have and I am sure Danny has is the rental-aspect of a deal now. You likely have a ZERO guarantee the guy (or any big FA) sign with you when this season is over. Danny cannot give up they allotment of assets it would take to get Horford today and not know the guy would return for the ’16-’17 season and beyond. If somehow Horford gives Danny a ‘wink-wink’, behind the scenes I WILL sign with you statement, Danny may have to make the deal today. But again, I can’t see how $$ would be the blocker to a trade today.

Crap, I was about to say that we should send them David Lee and Amir Johnson for Howard and Montiejunas, but they just traded Montiejunas.

Kg “paint your face clown” is all I need to hear to determine we don’t want the guy. Don’t need some news story, he’s been a diva for his whole career. A diva with no post moves who was always shut down by Perk
