Report: Cavs, Celtics and Knicks talking 3 team blockbuster with Melo and Love

Frank Isola of the NY Daily News dropped a bombshell tonight:

The Daily News has learned that the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers have discussed a blockbuster trade centered around Kevin Love. There were very preliminary discussions about expanding the deal to include the Knicks and Anthony, who would have to waive his no-trade clause in order to facilitate a deal to the Cavs.

The Knicks would receive draft picks and players in return. One of those players is believed to be Timofey Mozgov, who five years ago was traded by the Knicks to Denver in the Anthony deal.

Those talks have not progressed. Plus Anthony reiterated on Friday that he has no plans to seek a trade. However, when asked if he’s thought about his future with a losing organization, Anthony gave a cryptic answer.

“Not yet. I’m pretty sure I’ll have that conversation with myself and my family and my team,” he said. “But it’s not a conversation for right now.”

Wow. Here we are talking about Dwight Howard and Al Horford, meanwhile Danny Ainge is trying to pry Kevin Love away from the Cavaliers.

Sounds like Melo is lukewarm on leaving the hapless Knicks for the Cavaliers. I guess the guy really enjoys NYC.

As for the Celtics, there’s no specific information on what they’d give up to get Love, although we can speculate NYK would end up with one of the Brooklyn picks.

      It’s the trade deadline-always crazy…

  • Curtis Monroe

No desire to see Kevin Love in a Celtics uniform and no sense in giving a division rival any draft picks.

Only way this works is if we’re trading David Lee and a bag of balls.

I’m not a huge Kevin Love fan and I’m sure not a fan of giving up the Nets pick to get him, BUT the idea behind it is Danny can go out in the offseason and say to KD or Horford or any all star ‘ look we have Thomas, Love and some nice top role players come and make a big 3’

Love is soft, oft-injured & did I mention soft?

      Glass ankles and dish-pan hands.

I’d like to see Gortat in a Celtics uniform. I think he would make an impact on our defense and on the boards. Moreover, the guy is athletic, can run and is master of pick and roll game.

Yes! This! I’ve wanted Gortat for years! However, I also wanted David Lee like 5 years ago too…

Will not happen….KL is way too injury prone….the Boston “Love-Fest” is over.

Love is following the Dwight Howard path—–Both were very impressive with their original teams, traded at 26, their numbers fall off, injuries start hampering them, the new team soon regrets the move, puts them on the trading block.

  • I like Love’s game. I think he has taken a backseat to the egomaniac he plays with in Cleveland. Frankly, I like the idea of trading for someone who seems to detest playing with Lebron. I also think that he is a nice fit in our offense. He can stretch the floor, which won’t affect our shooters and he has shown in the past that he is a more than capable rebounder. Picking him up with a trade won’t win us a title, but it’s a big step in the right direction. At that point, I think we would be one piece away from being serious title contenders. For me, this is equivalent to picking up Ray Allen — it makes us into a really good team that nobody wants to play and puts us in the position to get a centerpiece player looking to win a title. I’m willing to give up a Brooklyn pick for him.

Picking up Kevin Love completely destroys our ability to defend against the Pick-n-Roll. We will get dominated by other teams if we give up Kelly or Sully for KLove.
