After dropping Game 1 of the 2010 NBA Finals by thirteen points to the Lakers, the Celtics were looking to gain a split and find a way to win in Game 2. Well they found a way, and that “way” was Rajon Rondo. #9 came out and delivered one of the best performances of his career-a triple double of 19 points, 10 assists & 12 rebounds. And though the box score only shows one blocked shot, it was a very memorable block. One of our readers, Ian, summed it up nicely back in 2010:

of all the little story lines in these few moments of the game it is
what Rondo does that blows my mind.  If you watch closely when Rondo
goes for the Fishers pump fake, his face doesn’t look like surprised at
all, he glances quickly to the shot clock at the other end of he floor,
see’s that Fisher will have to shoot and is ready immediately once past
him to jump up to block Fisher’s shot.  If I didn’t know better I would
be tempted to say that Rondo intentionally bites on the shot fake, knowing
that fisher pulls his shot back far behind his head, putting him in the
perfect position for the block from behind.  All of this happened in
less then 30 seconds on a small play that helped turn the tide in a
close game that could be the momentum shift that leads to banner 18;
all that in less then 30 seconds!

The Celtics went on to win Game Two 103-94, behind Rajon’s huge game and Ray Allen’s 8 treys. Enjoy the video, courtesy of our own Jay aka MrTrpleDouble10

So many familiar faces. Tony Allen, Thibs, Ray. Ugh…I hate Joey Crawford.

Edit: Maybe “hate” is too strong of a word.

Revision: I really hate when Joey Crawford is the ref.

    Nope, hate still applies.

Isn’t that the game that Ray set a record for threes made ?

      • Curt Hays

Yeah, he set the Finals record for threes in a half, threes in a game, and threes in a row. Had he not missed the first one that he missed, he’d have set the record for most in a game all in the first half, without missing any.

…And THAT’S why RAJON RONDO is the best point guard in the LEAGUE!

    Go Cs

Alot of people tend to berate him through the regular season but once playoffs hits he’s a whole other level, very few players in the league can do that

I really hope he goes to NY or LA and puts up triple doubles every time he plays us.
