Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
Sources told ESPN.com the Kings have continued to express interest in Smith and the parties are on the hunt for a third team that could help facilitate the deal.
As ESPN.com reported last month, Detroit and Sacramento have engaged in trade discussions that would potentially land Smith in the same frontcourt with DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay. Initial talks called for Sacramento to send Jason Thompson and either Derrick Williams or Jason Terry to the Pistons for Smith, but those discussions reached an impasse and were pushed into July along with the rest of both teams’ free-agent business, sources said.
Is Sacramento attempting to build the most temperamental NBA team of all-time? DeMarcus Cousins, Josh Smith and Rajon Rondo?
I don’t know what the Kings are thinking. If they land Smith, there is no way they can afford to sign Rajon Rondo unless they let Rudy Gay walk in the off-season. I’m not a fan of building around Gay or Smith, but if I had to choose one to pair with Rondo and Cousins, it would be Gay.
DeMarcus Cousins is also a big fan of Rondo. In an interview with Bill Simmons, Cousins definitively claimed Rondo as the best point guard in the game.

On Page 2, the league’s proposal for gold tabbed jerseys.
Apologies for the blurry photo, it’s the only one I could find.
The NBA will use a single tab no matter how many championships the franchise has won. So a team like Portland with one championship will have the same number of tabs as the Celtics.
Since that’s not a fair representation, we propose the Celtics jersey look like this:
