Report: Sacramento leading the Love sweepstakes

Chuck - Red's Army June 4, 2014 Rumors 13 Comments

Crap.

What exactly do the Kings have to offer? The #8 pick and shooting guard Ben McLemore, for starters.

This report by Sam Amico contradicts yesterday’s report by Sean Devaney of the Sporting News:

Last month, Yahoo! Sports reported that Sacramento would be willing to trade for Love without knowing whether he would sign an extension, but that is not the Timberwolves’ preference.

Devaney didn’t elaborate on reasons why Minnesota wouldn’t move Love to Sactown, but maybe they prefer to ship him east.

Or maybe Minny floated this to Amico to get other teams to up the ante.

Hell, this could work out just fine for us. I honestly believe he WANTS to play for us. So he gets traded there, doesn’t sign with them, leaves in FA for us. We get another year leading to a potential lottery pick to put next to him. BOOM we’re strong in 2-3 seasons.

I am down with this also. Let Melo stay in NY another year too if it means we have a chance for another high Lottery pick.

I live in NY…. Melo is a cancer

Melos a cancer because you’re owner stepped in and put everything in a gift basket and UPS’ed it to Denver

It’s so effin’ obvious that “Flip” is trying to get other teams to raise their bids. Why would any team trade for Love when they know he can walk after one year? ONE!!! Makes absolutely no sense. Especially Sacramento that’s trying to rebuild? They’re willing to mortgage their future to rent Love’s service for one year?

I DON’T BUY IT FOR ONE SECOND.

I had nothing against Minny until Flip opened his mouth about us and Tim Duncan. Now I can’t wait to watch them lose Love for a bag of chips and see Flip get fired.

The same Sacramento that has been rebuilding for how many years now?

    • Curt Hays

Also, if they dump players for Love, and he leaves after a year, think of all the cap space they could save. It might actually work for them if they have room to sign a free agent, but I haven’t looked to see who is free next year besides Rondo.

If Love does want to come to Boston all he has to do is say he won’t resign with Sac and they’ll back out.

Love going to Boston last weekend was detrimental to the Celtics chances of landing him. Minnesota seems to be bitter about all the press his trip got and now they are going to great lengths to not allow the Celtics to get him. In the end if he wants to play for Boston he will play for Boston at some point.

they`ll trade him to whoever gives them the best value. this isn`t playground emotionalism. its business.
