Your Morning Dump..Where Rondo wants to win “now”

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

“At the end of the day, I want to win. I want to win now. And I’m sure Danny will have the guys in here that we’ll be able to compete for a title. I don’t just want to make the playoffs or get to the first or second round. When I compete, or when I make it to the playoffs, I expect to win every time.”

Rondo Leftovers: “I Want To Win Now” - Chris Forsberg

And that folks, is what you want to hear from your captain. It also really makes you realize just how great it was for an up and coming young star like Rondo to have proven winners like KG, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Shaq, Sheed etc. around. Rondo has always been an ultra competitive kid, but you best believe that spending quality time with future hall of famers for the last few seasons certainly rubbed off on the now 28 year old point guard. But those days are over, and now he is the vet who younger players will look to for both leadership and inspiration. As far as getting some help, Rajon says he has total faith that Danny Ainge will bring some in this off season.

“I trust a lot in Danny,” said Rondo. “He’s turned this thing around before. I have faith in him. I believe in Danny. I think we do need another big-time player. But that’s all his job. He’s working on that now and I completely have faith in him.”

As the draft approaches, we all know that the Rondo rumors will continue to pop-up here and there. They do call him “Trader Dan” for a reason, but as Rondo told the media yesterday, he now has roots in Massachusetts & Boston. He wants to stay here, and he wants to stay a Boston Celtic. This is his team now, and just as Paul Pierce had his years as the captain and “The Truth”, Rondo will now be the face of the franchise. And he’s ok with it-welcomes it actually. He is indeed happy to be a Bostonian and a  Celtic. As of “now” anyway…

“Yes. I don’t like change, really,” said Rondo. “I’m pretty comfortable. I have a beautiful home here. I love it here. I have a great neighbor, the best neighbor in the world. I don’t want to leave. It’s just part of the process that I’ll talk about once the season is over. As of now, I’m a Celtic … This is home to me, as of now.

Major thanks to the @celtics for giving me a great opportunity!! It was a great learning experience and I loved every minute of it. It was also great to catch up with a few former Horizon League guys, Coach Brad Stevens and Ronald Nored!! First workout done, hopefully many many more in the future!!!

We are praising rondo for saying he wants to win? Would we expect someone to say hey want to lose now?

    • firm_fiasco

It’s much more than that (I Think). It sounds like he’s sending a message to Danny. “Hey Danny I want to compete for a title now so make the necessary moves or I’m out… I don’t want to leave Boston but I want to win now so make it happen”. I could be wrong but if I was in Danny’s shoes I would take it serious.

        Bingo.

You’d be surprised how many Celtics fans on the Internet are more interested in being bad – and obsessing over the draft – than they are in winning now.

Does anyone else now want to know who Rondo’s neighbor is?

    • firm_fiasco

      YES!

I envision an elderly gentleman who enjoys playing Connect 4

I was thinking more of an elderly guy who mows Rondo’s grass sometimes and is teaching Rondo how to play polo.

LMFAO. I didn’t see the title, so I thought it was going to be Big Worm.

Knowing that Tucker became a born-again Christian makes that scene all the better.
