Your Morning Dump… Where Ray Allen and KG have not spoken in 2 years

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

Ray Allen won a title with Garnett and Pierce in Boston in 2008. But when he went down the Celtics bench before his first game with the Heat against them last season, Garnett famously refused to shake hands or even look at him.

“No,” Allen says when asked if he’s talked with Garnett over the last two years.

Has he tried?

“No, no,” he says.

Allen seems to think how this sounds, because he is a basketball gentleman in the way Garnett is only a basketball warrior. “When I came here, everyone welcomed me immediately as part of the team, as one of their brothers,” he said. “That’s been my only focus since.”

So much for time healing all wounds. Maybe these two will shake hands in 2018 when the organization honors the 10th anniversary of their 2008 championship.

It wasn’t my intent to focus on Ray Allen the past two days, but such is life when you’re a blogger without a team in the playoffs.

In other news, Danny Ainge finished 7th in Executive of the Year voting. He actually received one 1st place vote. Someone really loved the Pierce and Garnett trade, the hiring of Brad Stevens and/or the signing of Vitor Faverani.

    good.

I’d be kinda upset if the C’s ever invited that traitor back to Beantown for anything. He can celebrate with the Heat in Miami.

  • zippittyay

I haven’t spoken to Ray Allen in way over 2 years.

      Good for you! Stay strong!

Hey, ya know if you just click on those talking links, they stop playing….

I pulled the ad code. Apologies.

I was putting that out there as a positive thing… ;)

I highly doubt KG talks to him unless forced too (an anniversary of 2008 as you mentioned). I just hope we can be a contender by 2018.

I thought maybe KG was softening when he came back to Boston with the Nets, since he managed to say Ray’s name in a positive way without being prompted a couple of times. But maybe KG was just having an intensity blackout at the time.

    • LA Flake

I don’t want Ray back in town for that. F*ck Ray Allen. He’s not a Celtic. He’s a Heat. Let him celebrate in Cuba or wherever the f*ck his team is.

  • CFH

I love the lottery countdown timer on the side.

    • LA Flake

      Where???

      • CFH

On the right. I don’t think you can see it on the mobile site though.

I love KG… just like a bitter fan… He understands.

You watch these guys play, and you assume they feel the same resentment and hatred you do for their rivals… Until someone like Ray goes and plays for them. As a fan, you get confused that this could happen, because you really don’t see the business side. But the fact that KG still remains bitter, just like me and the rest of C’s fans, makes you appreciate him that much more.

It’s sort of like an unwritten rule of etiquette. When you’re a competitor as is KG whom we admire and respect for all his fire, and PP too for his drive, you don’t join the team that is the bulls-eye on your dart board. It’s utterly insulting to your teamates and the fans. The Fraud (Ray Allen) violated the unwritten rules to the extreme, including accepting half the money to do it making all the resentment infinitely worse. Kind of like a gigantic spit on your ex-team, and the fans. The Fraud is now unfortunately for him, a Massachusetts area outcast for life. He should remain in Florida forever more.

I should add “joining the team that is the bulls-eye on you dart board for no good reason at all such as money”. I can understand Red Sox players joining the Yankees for money, the history, etc. etc,. Fraud had no such reason. Just the opposite: half the money.

maybe he just wanted to win games. Celtics don’t do that anymore

    • forever_green

Really, we didn’t know Ray’s real side.

Its so obnoxious listening to Boston fans cry about anything. You guys have banner upon banner in the ceiling and yet you still cry. Give it a rest and go watch the Patriots, Bruins and Sox. STFU already.
