Celtkicks: Closer look at Rajon’s Boston Marathon tribute kicks

By now, you’ve no doubt seen the special kicks Rajon Rondo wore as a tribute to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. Well now the folks over at HoopChina give us a close-up look at these extremely detailed sneakers. Rondo asked Anta to make a special version of his “RR1″ that he could wear as a tribute during last week’s anniversary of that tragic day. The shoes are mainly white on the medial side, and black on the lateral side. They feature the initials of the victims in gray, and have the marathon’s official colors of blue & yellow as accents. The outsole is yellow with grey speckle & Rondo’s “9” is on each heel tab. Another very cool touch is featured inside the tongue-David Ortiz’ now famous: “THIS IS OUR F*CKING CITY!” written in black. Rondo’s new “rR” logo and the Anta logo are also on the upper of each sneaker. The outside of both tongues have “BOSTON STRONG 41513” on them. Anta did a very nice job with these. As of now, they are not available for purchase anywhere.
