Recap: The Pistons got Rondo’d

Wasn’t that pretty? Rajon Rondo delivered a masterful performance (11 points, 18 assists, 0 TOs) as the Celtics beat the Pistons, 118 – 111. The team had 5 players in double figures.

With his 18th assist of the night, Rondo passed Bill Russell (5th place) on the team’s all-time assist list.

The Celtics still hold the league’s 4th worst record, yet they are 5.5 games out of the 8th playoff spot in the East.

The Green

Rondo’s A/TO ratio was 18-0. Eighteen-to-zero. The team’s A/TO ratio was 38-5.

Jeff Green led the Celtics with 27 points on 11-19 FG. Kris Humphries had 20 points and 11 rebounds against Detroit’s mighty front-line.

The Gross

As expected, the Pistons destroyed the Celtics on the glass (54-39) and scored 64 points in the paint. Andre Drummond had 18 points and 22 rebounds.

actually, the C’s have the 5th worst record thanks to this win.

Chris Babb got a +111? We really have to sign this guy.

Better quit that cheer leading before you offend someone! 🙂

or that rondo only gets all those assists becuase of playing with future hofers

  • John Smith

Kelly Olynyk is averaging 28.4 and 10.4 per 36 over the past 4 games

    • Thatguy

I’ve been rooting for Olynyk since day one. Hopefully he can keep up this production.

I’m calling that he’s a potential break out player for next year.

      • John Smith

Hopefully he does. However, I see big changes coming this summer, especially if Ainge gets a top 4 pick. I’d rather start anew with the potential of those four guys than stick with Rondo.

Olynyk and Sullinger are good, but I don’t know how well they can work together. I’d rather get someone to anchor the paint.

        • Thatguy

I’m a HUGE Rondo fan, so that statement irked me a little, haha. I’ll agree with you, under the conditions that we get a great deal for Rondo, and that possible top 5 pick turns out to be the real deal.

And I agree. We’ve needed a true center for years. However, until we get one of those, I’m going to enjoy watching Sully and Kelly developing with Rondo. For now, at least.

  • Chulinho

Such a Rondoian stat line. lol

  • Step

Shout out to Rondo and shout out to the guys on the receiving end of his passes..they actually went

  • CoachAJ

This is an encouraging sign for next season. We still haven’t seen the potential lineup of RR-AB-JG-JS-KO, yet this year. If we are going to draft 4th or 5th then I see Danny going with Exum or Smart to get bigger in the backcourt.

the most awesome thing to get from this article is there are only five other celtics in the history of the celtics rondo included that are better passers (essentially) then the legendary bill russell our center! what other teams have a center in their top five for all time assists, says something about bill russell right there!
