Steez is gone… C’s trade Crawford, Brooks to Golden State

John - Red's Army (@RedsArmy_John) January 15, 2014 Trades 163 Comments

Another Woj bomb….

Crawford and MarShon Brooks are going to Golden State.

In a previous tweet, Woj said this would be a multi-team deal.

Stay tuned… this post will be updated with more information.

UPDATE 1:

Update 2:

Here’s how it shapes up:

Craw & Brooks are gone… which means Rondo is definitely coming back.  Bradley & Bayless will get the heavy rotation minutes, Pressey will likely stick with the team as the 4th guard.

Joel Anthony is under contract for $3.8 million, which means the Celtics add a tiny bit of salary in this deal, which is inconsequential since the Courtney Lee deal gave them plenty of room to get away from the tax line.  But he does have a $3.8 million option for next season.  I’m not clear on how he fits on this roster at the moment… UNLESS… Brando Bass is the next guy out the door.  Keep an eye open for that:

Here’s the deal on the protection for the first round pick, via RealGM:

Philadelphia’s 1st round pick to Miami protected for selections 1-14 in 2014 or 1-14 in 2015; if Philadelphia has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Miami by 2015, then Philadelphia will instead convey its 2015 2nd round pick and 2016 2nd round pick to Miami [Miami-Philadelphia, 6/28/2012]

What does THAT mean?  If Philly makes the playoffs either of the next two years, we get their first round pick.  If they miss the playoffs both years, it becomes two second round picks (2015, 2016).

I’d take Clay Thompson…or Andrew Bogut, hehe. I bet we just got expriring contracts though.

    • KGino

*Klay… and Bogut? The white Andrew Bynum? haha

      • GreenbirdCro

Ouch, that’s a bit harsh. He’s nowhere close to Bs poor behaviour and lack of common sense

        • Curt Hays

          He’s referring to injuries.

          • GreenbirdCro

            Well, I just hope so
after all he’s my Croatian from Down Under lol
you could say he panned out much better than one Greg Oden

          • Curt Hays

Yes he did, but Oden is SO NICE!!! And he’ll probably get a ring this year.

          • GreenbirdCro

            Nah, Curt. KG & Truth are… ;-)

          • Curt Hays

            Too soon damnit

      • Curt Hays

Thanks for the correction. I knew it didn’t look right. Bogut has been pretty legit lately (and less injured)…better than Joel Anthony.

        • KGino

Yea he’s putting up 10 rebs this year… But he’s too injury prone is all i meant

          • GreenbirdCro

The most ugly injury happened while dunking
            tough $hit

          • Curt Hays

Dood, he’s just pointing out that it’s a lot of money for a guy who spends most of the season in physical therapy.

  • pierce Hart

Classic Woj. Who we getting Harrison Barnes, for the best young PG and SG in the league

  • bill_nair

Curious to know if we get a pick or anything else? Whats Douglas contract like? He was fun to watch when he was on the knicks a few years back but is redundant on this roster.

  • eddysamson

Not gunna say I’m not happy we got rid of the both of them until I see what we’re getting back. We really need a player like either of those guys, but we don’t need both.

  • Paul

What??? We traded the right-handed James Harden????

    • GoKingsGoCeltsGoTigersGoNiners

Steez is no harden. Glad we got rid of him.

  • bill_nair

Any info on when that Philly pick is for? How many years on Joell Anthony’s contract?

Not a huge fan of the deal but Danny’s making moves. Should be one or two more by the deadline.

    • Rich Jensen

Lowe says it’s Lottery protected this year and next, and becomes a second rounder after that, so it’s not great. Mostly, Boston’s getting 3 second round picks from this deal, and possibly a Philly first rounder next year.

It seems like a good package with which Boston can move up the draft. At this point they’ve got like what? fourteen? draft picks over the next five years.

      • Chuck Da buck

I think that’s an awful package if ainge waited out closer to the trade deadline he def could have gotten more from a contender looking to make a jump.

        • bill_nair

Ive always believed a team that needed a backup ball handler would give up a first late for Craw. I hope Anthony’s contract next year atleast is non-guaranteed.

          • Rich Jensen

It’s guaranteed. But Anthony will be gone–if you want one of Boston’s first rounders, you’re going to have to take JA too.

          • Curt Hays

            It’s fortunate that it’s less than $4M

          • Chuck Da buck

I guarantee when the deadline gets closer we will see a trade that makes us heated when we see some other contender makes a desperate move to get better and gives up a first rounder for a scoring guard just like Crawford.

      • bill_nair

Thanks for the info. Wish we could have got atleast a late first. Looks like it could turn out to be an early second.

        • Curt Hays

Don’t forget that Danny will probably just trade these for something good. Baby steps.

          • Clogger

Curt, I bet you’d give Danny a BJ if you could. You’re the type of fan that probably thinks this years Celts team would be able to beat the Heat in a playoff series if they met.

          • GreenbirdCro

            Why hate, bro?

          • bill_nair

Way to carry out a mature discussion.

          • Firm_Fiasco

How old are we? You’re judgment of someone you’ve never met says a lot about your character.

          • KGino

HEY! Curt is a valuable member of this online community and no one’s ever heard of you Clogger… Go s your own d

          • Curt Hays

            That’s my boy, KGino! #bleedgreen

          • Curt Hays

Hahahaha, hilarious. You’re partially a good judge of character.

I always EXPECT the Celtics TO beat the Heat in a playoff series. You’re right about that.

I haven’t given much thought to Danny’s private life.

          • bill_nair

If your ever able to get THAT close to Danny, you mind getting me an autograph?

          • Curt Hays

SO many responses to that…”I’ll keep you in mind, Bill.”

    • Rich Jensen

Correction. The Philly pick is lottery protected this year and next year, then becomes *two* second round picks (Per Woj).

  • Jared Scali

We are getting Joel Anthony…let ttankig commense. Also this for sure means Rondo is back Friday. Side note, looks like Pressey has impressed enough to be Rondo’s backup.

    • LA Flake

Why the hell is Danny helping Miami’s cap situation is what I’d like to know.

      • Curt Hays

I assume that we’ll all find out why when Danny trades all these picks for something huge.

        • Chuck Da buck

Probably bass and the picks for a center or maybe even a deal to Utah for Hayward.

          • Curt Hays

            Stevens would love that.

        • adam

Danny still has that big trade exception too. When does Danny have to use that by?

          • Curt Hays

            “Up to a year”

          • adam

thanks, so the playing year, or the year from the date he obtained it?

          • Curt Hays

Assumption: From the date the trade was made. I can’t imagine it’s anything else.

  • eddysamson

TANK STATUS! This is an absolutely TERRIBLE deal if you wanted wins this season. We now have NO backup SG. We went from over to undermanned back court and did not at all address our size issue since Anthony is also equal sized to Bass, Sully, and Humph.

Having said that (and not knowing anything about Anthony’s contract) this might just land us a Jabari Parker and Philly’s picks are sure to be in the first half of the draft depending on the year obviously so I don’t hate it all together.

    • Chuck Da buck

I thnk they are only first round picks if philly makes the playoffs so basically we traded Crawford and brooks for second rounders and Joel Anthony’s three million dollar contract for this year and next.

      • KWAPT

        Bingo.

      • WardenOfTheNorth

76ers will make the playoffs next season, which means Danny traded Brooks (D-leaguer) and Crawford (role player on a playoff team) for a 1st rounder. Even if they signed Crawford to the qualifying offer of $3.2 mil next season OR take on Joel Anthony’s $3.8 mil, they would be in the same situation. Both players are not long term pieces to this team and they would be gone after 2015. Potentially, 16 draft picks (10 1st round, 6 2nd round) in the next 6 years. Danny should be able to turn these into assets, sooner than later.

        • Curt Hays

          Warden? Are you Joel Anthony?

          • WardenOfTheNorth

            Haha. I wouldn’t mind his salary…

        • wil

Lol Marshon brooks is too good for the dleague.

        • Rueben Maroni

How many of Danny’s picks are still in the League? The difference is Crawford was contributing . Joel will be behind Faveroni.

    • Curt Hays

      $3.8M for two years

    • Rueben Maroni

Philly will be in the lottery the next two years because that is there objective, So two past !st rounders for two 2nd rounders.two years out of High School

  • Curt Hays

Joel’s salary is slightly more than we paid Steez and Brooks combined. No salary cut, but it IS only $3.8M for two years. But Joel is smaller than Big Baby, well his forehead is bigger. Idk how I feel about this. I suppose the picks are what matter?

  • Chuck Da buck

I can’t believe ainge did that man I think he coulda got something better i mean now we have to pay Joel Anthony next year. I think this was a awful deal.

  • Chuck Da buck

I can’t believe we are going to pay Joel Anthony 3.8 million next year what an awful job by ainge we easily could have done better closer to the deadline with teams trying to contend.

  • bill_nair

Im more upset we took Heat trash and sort of helped them out.

  • MatthewWilding

Unless Anthony opts out at the end of the season (and I don’t see why he would) I hate this trade.

  • 409Pen

Anthony(or Bass) and Bogans + pick for Asik?

  • Chuck Da buck

Ainge completely jumped the gun on this he seriously got robbed man this shows me that ainge don’t even want to be good next year either or else he would never take on 4 million of Anthony. I have a feeling he’s going to move rondo and Wallace in a deal and I’m going to be pissed.

  • Firm_Fiasco

Danny Ainge did a great job with this one. Crawford won’t be as good in Golden State as he was in Boston and Marshon Brooks has been a failure. Crawfords value kept going down as the season progressed and with Rondo coming back soon his minutes would’ve certainly been cut and his productivity would’ve went down and his value would’ve further diminished. Joel Anthony is a decent big man and a decent rebounder and if he opts out after this season that would be perfect but the great thing about this deal is the possibility of adding another first round pick, depending of course on how Philly ends it’s season in the next two years. Danny Ainge does a great job at moving pieces around and drafting talent. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

    • Rich Jensen

Right. DA had to trade Crawford sooner rather than later. And unlike Morey w/Asik, he’s willing to cut his losses.

Also, the C’s got Crawford for nothing, and traded him for 3 2nd rounders or a second rounder and a first rounder. So that’s a net gain.

I’m just bummed that this deal helps the Heat save $10M in luxury tax.

      • Firm_Fiasco

Yea, that’s the bad part of the deal. We actually helped Miami.

        • WardenOfTheNorth

I guess. But look at it this way, the 76ers will make the playoffs next season. They could win the Atlantic, which isn’t saying much but it would land them a 3-5 seed. They tank this year, get a high pick, a guy who can help them, plus a healthy Nerlens Noel….Danny could potentially have (3) 1st round picks next season. This was a good trade.

    • Chuck Da buck

Ur crazy dude if he waited a day or two before the deadline when other teams are desperate he could have done way better he should have played hard ball with them and made them wait till they gave us a way better package its clear he jumped, the gun he should of kept taking more and more calls till teams that think there contenders know they need to make a move.

      • Curt Hays

Not necessarily…if he’d waited, other teams may have perceived Steez’s success as a fluke

        • Chuck Da buck

Ok then why trade brooks now after killing his value by sending him to the d league remember just a year or two ago teams would have gave a first rounder easily for him why not play him thirty minutes a game have him average twenty points then trade him cause we all now he would score a lot. Why not raise his value.

          • Firm_Fiasco

Because Marshon Brooks can’t average 20 points a game. He can score 20 points in a game though. But he doesn’t have the basketball I.Q and can’t defend. WHy would you play someone 30 min just to bring his value up ( doesn’t mean that would bring up his value) and piss off the other players whose earned those minutes? He doesn’t fit in well with the team so your suggestion would be pointless.

          • Chuck Da buck

Who fits well? We lost nine straight I’m just saying why trade brooks rite after a d league showing he could have raised his value a little bit saying he would scor twenty is a stretch he could if he played all game but he’d probably be a minus sixty but I just think ainge acted way to soon the warriors had all the leverage if ainge waited for when teams are going to need some scoring to put them over the hump to contend I think he coulda done way better.

          • Firm_Fiasco

Brooks definitely doesn’t fit well…. I get he did good in the D-League but that doesn’t mean it will transition into the NBA, remember Fab Melo? (Look at his D-League numbers). Brooks won’t be the player you think he is.

          • GreenbirdCro

It’s one thing for us to comment
it’s completely other thing to be the one responsible for it
            gamble, that’s what it is
and don’t underestimate the pressure of time against Danny
he’s gotta move so many pieces in a limited time span
most people would choke under this rebuilding pressure

          • Chuck Da buck

True I bet he’s got a lot more deals he’s doing and probably needed atleast these picks to dangle when teams do get desperate at the deadline.

          • GreenbirdCro

            ;)

          • Chuck Da buck

And obviously the only reason they were playing Crawford was to raise his value and my guess is they are doing that with hump and bass so why not brooks.

          • Firm_Fiasco

No it’s not obvious. You must not have been paying close attention the the C’s this year. Crawford started on the bench this season. Bradley couldn’t handle the PG situation so coach Brad Stevens had to shake things up and figure out a rotation with a decent ball handler and can drive to the basket. That is how Crawford got more minutes. Not to raise his value.

          • Chuck Da buck

I thought the same exact thing but seeing him walk out the door looks like we’re both wrong.

          • Firm_Fiasco

            we shall see

          • Curt Hays

I thought they were playing Steez because Rondo had surgery…

          • Curt Hays

Gotta balance out the salaries somehow. They may waive him.

          • Chuck Da buck

Ya my guess is ainge is going to use these picks to make a big deal at the deadline maybe with hump or bass.

          • CallingBatman

There’s two ways to look at it – as rebuilding a team or as a financial deal. I think its more about finances than anything and getting additional trade pieces (1st round great, several seconds not so bad). Lee was objectively a better player than Bayless (although the “good” Bayless has so far suited up) but cost more. Crawford likely wasn’t in the future now that Bayless is here. Brooks has so far been an “upside” guy with no real upside. I suppose we’ll be pulling for Philly and it isn’t unthinkable they’ll make the 8th seed this year or next given the shape of the EC.

        • Firm_Fiasco

Exactly what my point is about Crawford

      • Firm_Fiasco

Well you don’t know how many phone calls he was getting or what offers were on the table but the fact is, is that Crawfords value was going down. Crawford needs to play a good amount of minutes to be effective. He needs the ball on his hands and that won’t happen in Golden State and wasn’t going to happen with Rondo coming back. I don’t think this makes it clear that he jumped the gun I think it was a smart move.

        • Chuck Da buck

Yes but brooks value was at a all time low why not play brooks for a few weeks and raise his value.

          • GreenbirdCro

Proly no D in him sealed his fate

          • Curt Hays

            Phrasing…

          • Curt Hays

Because GMs were only interested in his $1.2M contract.

          • Chuck Da buck

Now they are but when the year started everyone was all about him. I’m sure u remember that’s why his value is destroyed.

          • Curt Hays

Valid point. I guess Brad is trying to win games, and Danny is trying to build next year’s team.

          • Chuck Da buck

It does seem that way I wonder if Stevens gets frustrated at that.

    • DJ AMMO

Anthony is so decent Big, that plays bench in Canada Team… C’mon Buddy Crawford works perfects like a 6th man in the C’s…. This trade Sucks!

      • Firm_Fiasco

Anthony is not the centerpiece of this deal, it’s the draft picks they get and possibly the first rounder they could get. And Celtics getting that first rounder is not so far fetched. Crawford wouldn’t be a good sixth man. He started the season off the bench and wasn’t doing well and when he became a started and logged more minutes he became more effective. He needs minutes to be effective.

  • GreenbirdCro

    This ain’t all, folks
Danny is either making more trades now or preping up for trading up the draft
    Or both
    Relax

    • Duke

true. which would you rather have and which is more likely

      • GreenbirdCro

        Both :)

  • GreenbirdCro

We should be concerned w other things
    see Crash, Bogans, Hump…

    • Curt Hays

Concerned isn’t the word I’d use for Crash unless you’re concerned we’re keeing him. Bogans is gone already. We need to keep Humphries’ talent, and for $12M I bet we’re forced to.

      • GreenbirdCro

        Yeah Curt
we need to ship them asap
Hump is the only one who surprised me and would kinda like to keep him but for less bucks most def

      • Firm_Fiasco

Agreed, we’re probably stuck with humphries (Although he’s been playing solid ball lately). Bogans is gone and Crash will be too. Package Crash and Bass in a deal and see what we can get.

        • GreenbirdCro

          Guys, have I missed something?
If someone’s excused it doesn’t mean we can’t trade him? Or something new happened?

    • GreenbirdCro

      Additionally… Bass, Green
if you’re in the nuke option
in my view (semi-)untouchales are: RR, AB, Sully
would love to give Klynyk time to develop

    • wil

Wallace is the only contract we need to be concerned with, Theres no point in trading expiring contracts right now.

Bass and Green are bigger headaches.

      • GreenbirdCro

        I agree
Timing and the right opportunity are crucial
But it would be great to get something
        and I’m inpatient lol

        • wil

i dont think you will get good players from expiring contracts. Having a big free agency lure might get us better talent though.

          • GreenbirdCro

            But picks?

          • wil

if you get picks for expiring contracts it means youll be taking in salary. Which takes away your flexibility in the future.

The idea of getting a big free agent is better than picks.

We already have a buttload of picks. Plus you wont get a lottery pick for expiring contracts.

  • Brick James

Sayonara Steez. Trader Danny, the basketball alchemist, strikes again. Takes a scrap heap, selfish player (Crawford) and turns him into draft picks. Hallelujah.

    • GreenbirdCro

      Praise Danny

    • Rueben Maroni

Boston trades two young guards who were 1st round picks for two future 2nd round picks and a 6’9″ center glued to Miami’s bench so Miami can add a player for the playoffs. How many years has it taken Bradley to develope into and NBA player.? How many Celtics 2nd round picks are still in the league?

      • Brick James

Joel Anthony is a 31 yr old tweener, he’s not part of the future as you note. This was the appetizer to some more Alchemy — watch Bass turn into something new as well.

And those future picks, do you really think Danny is going to be drafting them for this team? The C’s have like 15 picks over the next 4 years… they will be packaged/moved for something else.

        Stir your cauldrons…

  • adam

    Party for Jabari is starting.

  • Firm_Fiasco

Who do you guys think will take PG tonight?

    • Rod Shaftwell

      Bayless/Pressey

    • Curt Hays

I’d like to see Danny Ainge start at PG tonight.

    • wil

      mostlikely bayless

    • Firm_Fiasco

      I think Bayless will

    • Curt Hays

      Could be Rondo, now.

  • wil

This is an Ainge Gamble: Lets hope Joel Anthony wants to go back to the heat.

If he does take the player option, its like we traded Lee to make space for this deal. which is awful.

2 things to hope for. Joel Anthony doesnt take the player option and that we get a first rounder next year.

  • Chuck Da buck

I can’ believe we are going to have to sit through a whole year of Phil pressey playing nba basketball. There must be guys in the d league that look at him and get so frustrated that they ain’t on a team.

    • Curt Hays

Many of those guys are overpaid though. Pressey is CHEAP.

      • Chuck Da buck

He’s cheap but they could sign a ten day contract guy that’s better than him for cheaper. I just can’t believe he got a guaranteed deal for a year.

        • Curt Hays

Maybe his dad has something on Danny.

    • GreenbirdCro

      Remember “Last” Christmas?

  • Chuck Da buck

I don’t like the deal at the moment but the more I think about it this is ainge just getting more assets to make a big deal at the deadline. As long as it aint rondo I’m happy.

    • Andrew Vellucci

no hes not at all hes gonna wait to see what pick they have and maybe trade for someone worth a damn

      • Chuck Da buck

Ya that too maybe they get a decent pick and give the kings something for cousins I think him and rondo would kill it. Our starting lineup next year would be rondo, green, sully, cousins and either Bradley or Hayward. That is def a contender.

        • Chuck Da buck

Lol that won’t happen but man I like that lineup.

  • Thatguy

I don’t know how to feel about this.

  • CFH

As soon as Bayless showed up I figured Steez wasn’t long for Boston, but I’m still sorry to see him go. He grew on me after his rough start last season. One of the very best things about this year was watching Steez buy into the new system wholeheartedly and make every effort to be a team guy. And watching him annoy Bill Simmons.

Just another day on Trader Danny’s wild ride.

    • NE_Celt

For a guy who had problems in the league before coming to Boston and even some moments last year Steez did a pretty decent job this year…and like you said, bought into the game plan. It was nice to see him start to turn things around…Hope Steez has success with Golden State as well.

      • Rueben Maroni

It’s a good move for him he goes to a playoff team. Mark jackson will help him develop in stead of the Celtic plan of coaching by statistical analasys and he will be passing to players who can knock down a shot.. Look at Courtney Lee in Memphis.

        • Chuck Da buck

Haven’t seen what lees been doing is he tearing it up?

Haven’t seen a lot…but from what I hear he is putting up more numbers on the board than when he was playing here…looks like he found his shot again. He may be getting more minutes too though.

          • eddysamson

Except for the 24, no, but he hasn’t been bad either. I think he’s actually starting right now, though.

        • 76th

He got 24 pts – team highest last night in a win over OKC shooting 60%

  • NE_Celt

Holy crap! I knew something may happen…but wasn’t expecting it this quick!! Pretty soon we are going to have more picks then players at the rate DA is going…gives great possibilities for the future though! Not so sure about the player swap part of the deal though…could get interesting alright.

  • Chuck Da buck

Who knows maybe ainge knows that philly is about to make a huge deal and make a playoff run for this season.

  • Jester00

I will drink to this!!!! time to call off work suck some back Great move Danny now let’s get Rid of Bass and/Or uncle Jeff………..by the way call up Chris Babb please

    • NE_Celt

I forgot about Babb…he showed some promise…I am all for that happening! He is putting together a decent stat line in the D-league

  • Gregg Futch

Who can forget Brando Bass’s famous line: “I could be going to a contender…”

  • Chuck Da buck

Hope rondo got called bak to play tonight.

  • Andrew Vellucci

I hate this trade for the fact that joel anthony has 2 years left on his contract for 4 mill each year wtf is that and the sixers pick will end up being 2 second in like 16 and 17 which i dont think3 seconds is worth crawford alone 2nds are almost worthless at times terrible idea danny unless you can trade anthony with like bass or green

  • Celticsfanatic

Next ball to drop: Bass for Asik.

  • Andrew Vellucci

Celtics also wasted that 10 mill cap exception from the pierce trade considering they arent gonna trade for anyone just sell at the deadline

    • Brad P

He still has a month to use it. And then he has before draft day to use it during the offseason

      • Andrew Vellucci

why would he use it though he clearly wants to tank and hate to say this but even if the celtics got jabari, wiggins, embiid they will still suck next year no doubt

      • Suarez

        Underscore offseason.

  • Philip Sampson

Danny is a former nba player. Danny is vetran GM. Danny will no what the cap situation is as he most definitely looks at it ever day. Danny is planning to be good in a few years. (Seatle drafting durant style). Danny laughs at the people thinking they understand the contract and negotiating side of things more than him. Danny…knows what he is doing. Because if he didn’t he would of been fired in 2007.

    • Rueben Maroni

How many of Danny’s picks are still in the league?

      • Troy Henderson

        seriously?

  • Curt Hays

You guys are going to hate me, but, this Summer, I think Danny should trade Jeff Green and Brandon Bass for Blake Griffin…

    • RedsLoveChild

Sorry, Curt…but, nobody is going to give us Kate Upton in exchange for Rosie O`Donnell and Lisa Lampanelli!

      • Curt Hays

I laughed out loud in real life.

  • forever_green

Wow, is this site popular now….I like this trade.

  • grey_skies7

I’d like this deal a lot more if it didn’t signal that we’re keeping Rondo.

  • Lee in Oregon

Strange deal. Not sure why DA is helping Miami, that’s messed up. I also don’t see that pick being anything other than a 2nd rounder. Miami was the slight winner here, they just saved a lot of dough.

  • Roy Sanchez

Knew Danny would trade steez at some point. We could have gotten more but it is what it is

  • Robert Hodgman

Hey guys, here’s a hot new scoop!!

“In basketball news, today Danny Ainge traded Rajon Rondo and Jeff Green for the decomposing corpse of Dr. James Naismith!
Ainge says that zombie Naismith will fit perfectly in Brad Stevens system, and swears on the life of his first born son that he is not tanking….

In other news, Austin Ainge was struck dead by a single bolt of lightning while sitting at his desk….”

hope the cap space , the 3 second rounders or possibly that 1st rounder , either in a trade or a rookie, pans out for us. I cant see 2nd rounders doing much. We’ve all been hoping so much for a lottery pick. Is the talent of 2015′s draft class going to be nearly as good as this one’s?

  • Rjd12345

I’m not sure what people were expecting Crawford to draw, but if you discount an extra year of Joel Anthony, Crawford and Brooks netted us close to what the Bulls got for Luol Deng. That’s nuts. He wasn’t a part of the Celtics future so we got a couple assets to play with. Also Anthony doesn’t matter this year but next year he’ll be an expiring to match salaries (which isn’t a bad thing to have for a team that trades much more than signing free agents). Also Anthony’s one strength as a player is pick and roll defense and that’s the thing KO and Fav struggle with most. If anything at least he can teach our rooks that.
