Your Morning Dump..Where Rondo Gets Cryptic

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

RondoFistPumpI was pretty comfortable with Marc Spears’ report over the weekend that Rondo was aiming at returning to the C’s lineup on the 17th. Despite Rondo later denying the report, he’s been known to troll the media from time to time. Well now it looks like Friday will indeed be the night that #9 suits up, unless of course he’s trolling us all again. Here’s his cryptic tweet from Monday night:

The tweet, Rondo’s first since Christmas, came last night at around 11:40pm. It immediately set Twitter abuzz with folks trying to figure out just exactly what it meant. Chris Forsberg over at ESPN Boston had the math down pretty well:

Rondo’s tweet referencing 29,233,380 seconds equates to a little more than 338 days, which would be exactly the duration between his ACL surgery on Feb. 13, 2013 and a potential return on Jan. 17, 2014. Heck, Rondo appears to have even calculated the exact differential in time between his surgery and tipoff on Friday. (The surgery would have been 11:07 a.m., figuring in Friday’s 7:30 p.m. start.)

Should be an electric night at TD Garden on Friday with the Lakers in town. Despite the fact that both teams are struggling, and Kobe Bryant is out, Celtics vs Lakers will always be a game that fans of both teams circle on their calendars. Here are some Rondo highlights to hold you over..

Is it okay to cry when he returns?

  • eddysamson

Can’t wait til I can tell Raoul, I TOLD YOU SO!

    • Raoul

Says the man that guessed incorrectly until something stuck lol

      • eddysamson

My first guess was 1/10. About a week ago I changed to this week. You said both were improbable and tried to make me look bad. All I’m saying is get ready to get called out.

Do you guys realize you’re arguing over when a basketball player is returning from an injury?

          • eddysamson

            There’s no argument.

          • Raoul

Nah, no argument. Just some wet towel snapping in the Y.M.C.A. locker room, waiting for Lakers @ Celtics to come on in the rec room.

        • Raoul

You were pretty close, I can’t lie. I was sure for months it was going to be one of the 2 Laker games. I was really hoping for the Feb game to give him a little more time tho.

  • Curt Hays

But seriously, KWAPT, those highlights are insane. It’s as though I forgot how my favorite player plays.

  • smsbda

This is perfect. I got tickets for the OKC game and the Nets game, hoping he’d be back.

  • Mannie

    Omg omg omg omg OMG

  • Thatguy

I had a dream Rondo came back, and completely dominated.

It was the same day that the whole return against the Lakers became speculation. I really hope it comes true.

  • KGino

Rondo made Chris Wilcox look 20 again… Imagine what he could do with someone like Dwight Howard (not that I’d ever want that clown, just sayin).

Cant wait!! Also did anyone else watch Paytons interview, loves Rondo hates the lack of defence, guy came out and said it as it is, the NBA want high scoring games so are calling fouls more meaning that theres less activity on Defence, I mean if they called fouls less how good would Perk and Cousins look. Also its pretty unfair that a player can dunk on you and punk you but you cant get him back…

Cousins looks pretty good as it is.

ehm… so these are all the jumpers he hit all season?! I mean… jumpers in the highlights, really? cmon

    • jrleftfoot

he hit a high percentage of mid -range jumpers. could be that`s why they are in thehighlights.

Can’t wait to see him play. Not to be a Debby downer but seeing him play with KG and Paul makes me feel pretty nostalgic.
