Celtics supreme commander Danny Ainge updates us on the status of Rajon Rondo:

Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is scheduled to head to Florida within the next 10 to 14 days to meet with Dr. James Andrews, who performed surgery on Rondo’s right knee.

“It has nothing to do with Rondo’s health and it’s not like a final straw or anything,” Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said Wednesday. “It’s just a checkup that they’ve scheduled for the beginning of December. It’s been on the calendar for a while.”

Celtics team doctor Brian McKeon will also make the trip with Rondo, and together with Andrews, those two will likely determine the next step in the rehabilitation process for Rondo, Ainge said.

Gary Washburn reported two days ago that Rondo was close to getting clearance. I guess the definition of close is 10-14 days.

Are you surprised the definition of close is 10-14 days? I mean look at what Ainge just said “…scheduled for the beginning of December.” apparently the 14-18th is the beginning?

I’m in no rush for Rondo to get back, let him take his time and come back when he’s ready. That being said, when Rondo gets back this team is going to be better than the experts thought (especially in a weak Eastern Conference). Rondo’s return is only going to make the younger players better, the fast break stronger, and Brad Steven’s system operate smoother.
