Ainge: There’s a lot of garbage in the media

Danny Ainge appeared this morning on “Toucher and Rich” and responded to the recent Bleacher Report/Turner Sports trade rumor involving the Celtics, Knicks and “stinking in 2014-15.”

“I don’t like to address rumors, but there is just not a lot of integrity in the media,” said Ainge. “I don’t believe there is a source close to the team that said that. I believe there is a lot of things that are made up today in the desperate world of competition in the media. I don’t want to throw every media person under the bus; there are some great people in the media with a great deal of integrity. But there is so much garbage, and someone close to the Celtics would never say that.

“Those kind of rumors can be damaging and they start a lot of talk that is unnecessary and wastes a lot of time,” said Ainge. “There are so many people out there I don’t even know who half these guys are.”

Ainge again stated he has no interest in trading point guard Rajon Rondo, and said he’s received less phone calls about a potential trade (involving any of his players) than last season.

I’ve never been a fan of BR, but since the merger with Turner Sports, they’ve hired some legit writers and reporters.

We’ve also learned that Danny Ainge isn’t always telling the truth. He can’t. It’s his job.

Ive only liked BR for their mock drafts and wild trade ideas. Took everything with a grain of salt, maybe even less.

I used to write for Bleacher Report, still read a lot of stuff from them. I’m going to have to agree with Danny for now. Maybe he isn’t telling the truth, but I know one thing:

“Those kind of rumors can be damaging and they start a lot of talk that is unnecessary and wastes a lot of time.”

He’s telling the truth here. 😛

BR is a bunch of BS in this case. I can see them thinking about not doing well THIS year; but next? Based upon our experiences in 07 (awful) and 08 (one of the greatest teams in franchise history), we know that tides can turn fairly quickly. Nobody associated with the Celtics would be thinking this, and certainly not saying this. The “unnamed source” in the Internet Age is really lowering the bar in journalism.

I love Bleacher Report. But when I get update alerts that say “Tom Brady gets dissed by Julian Edelman” I’m kind of annoyed. What kinda news is that?
