Recap: Ugh

chalk outline

There was only one moment of this game during which the Celtics were in this game, and that was immediately after the opening tip.  It took the Celtics nearly half of the first quarter to score a basket, and by then bloodbath was well under way.  The first quarter was a blizzard of Rockets running off turnovers and misses that amounted to a 40-point total and 22 point lead.  From there, it was an ugly slog that saw the Rockets just tack points onto that lead.

The Green

Yes, there’s an actual item for this section tonight.  Jared Sullinger actually played pretty well, holding his own against Dwight Howard.  He finished with 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Courtney Lee actually led the team with 17 points.  In a game where the team shot 32%, Lee and Sullinger were 11-26 (42.3%).

The Gross

Everything else that happened in this game, basically.  Especially the complete lack of Jeff Green and the return of bad Jordan Crawford.

Look, I know Green’s not the go-to guy, but he’s gotta be something out there.  He’s too talented to be whatever he’s been over the last few games.

The Greenlights

In lieu of highlights, please enjoy this video of puppies barking at a vacuum.

The Grid (brace yourselves)

  • Terrence Jones:  24 points (10-12 fg, 1-1 3pt, 3-4 ft), 9 rebounds
  • Field goal attempts:  Boston-99, Houston-72
  • Field goals made:  Boston-32, Houston-41
  • Points in the paint: 60-30 Houston
  • Second-chance points: 24-5 Boston (yes, Boston)
  • Jeff Green: 4 points (2-7 fg, 0-2 3pt, 0 ft attempts)
  • Jordan Crawford:  6 points (1-8 fg), 4 assists

This is what happens when you face a real basketball team.  If Miami gave half the effort Houston did tonight….well… let’s just be glad they didn’t and we have that memory.  You can’t play Orlando 80 times a season.

Oh well, this game, and the next 2 will help us better our chances at Wiggins…

  • rajonrondoooooooooooo4life

    Rondo come back plzz

  • Paul Pierce

On a side note Jabari Parker went 21-9-2 with 6 blocks. Watch out Wiggins.

    Really?!
Regardless of what (not) winning means for the team…
FFS!!! Can anyone explain it to Bradley he ain’t no freaking Jordan, Kobe or AI to be jacking that many shots!!! Arghhh! It’s detrimental to so many things we want to build.
In all honesty I was expecting -23. Missed it by a point. And I would be able to bear with it, but not like this. Why nobodies always need to have career nights against us?! What’s up with that? Does it mean that Cs play down to non-stars? If so, Brad needs to shake that crap out of any single as well as their collective head. Disturbing and embarrassing!
I would say nothing if Lin, Harden, Parsons and Howard had twice as big stat lines then they actually had…
    Jabari, you said, hmmm…

    • bill_nair

Someone needs to take those 22 shots. I agree Bradley isn’t the one. Wish Green would have taken even 3 more shots away from him.

  • Thatguy

On a side note, I think KO is rebounding better than expected at the moment. He grabbed 8 last night, averages 5.5 for 22 minutes, and his per 36 numbers would give him just under 9. I know it’s nothing over the top, but I remember people saying he’d be a subpar rebounder coming in.

    • bill_nair

I did not expect him to be hitting the boards as much as he has. The kid may be better on that end of the floor than I had initially given him credit for.

      • Thatguy

I can’t help but root for this guy, I always end up focusing on what he’s doing when on the court. Can’t wait to see how he pans out.

Theres no way in hell we have a chance with any western conference teams if we play “defense” like we did yesterday. Pathetic game. I’m ready to trade green for a pint of Hennessy and a 2020 2nd round pick. Theres no excuse for 6 points in TWO games.

  • Curt Hays

I think the key to the game is to not let Terrence Jones have the night of his life…
