Rondo continues working with Bryan Doo, tries to dunk

Here’s a short vid of Rajon Rondo working with Bryan Doo before the C’s game with the Wolves last night. Minnesota’s CSN affiliate aired the clip, which shows Rajon trying to dunk off of his left foot. Danny Ainge said last week that there is still no timetable for Rondo’s return. I’d say just the fact that he’s trying to dunk is encouraging. To me it shows that he’s not quite ready to dive in the deep end yet, but he’s definitely dipping his toes in the water. Thanks as always to RD6 for the footage.

Here is the tweet Minny’s broadcast team referenced:

Damn that is scary that he couldn’t dunk. I thought he was closer than that.

It almost looks like he forgot how his take off looked awkward like he thought about it too much i wouldn’t be scared he did this where everyone can see so he not worried or embarassed about it si lets just be patient and wait. triple double when he returns cuz that’s what rondo does

Speaking from experience, after not playing competitively for awhile taking off is always sort of awkward for me from the jump. Got to get the timing right.

        • jason benn

Absolutely its encouraging to see him trying. i don’t see next month him returning thoughhe doesn’twwant to come back with restrictions so it looks like he got ways to go still lookingggood though

I believe we should hold him out til after all-star break. Recovery time is typical what 10-12 months. He should be 100% by end of January. An extra few weeks and he’ll be ready from the jump.

Trade rondo for picks. He sucks.

      Troll. Don’t feed the trolls.

his ACL in his right knee was torn, not his left knee.
So he’s jumping of his good leg.

    • KWAPT

      You are correct.

    • Curt Hays

Dunking right handed means you dunk off of your left leg anyway. I realize that you’re just clarifying what the article is saying.

      • jason benn

Basketball 101 lol remember kids right hand right foot attached like a string :p but yes good find he still has to deal with landing on it though good to see him not cringe when he landed just kept moving

      • Tom1853

The article first implied that he was jumping of the knee that was repaired. I realize that right handed means jumping of your left leg :)
But like Jason said, good to see that he landed without a problem and kept moving.

I think the scary part is the landing. I remember rehabbing and I could jump but every time I did i was worried about getting injured on the landing. It threw my timing way off.
Seems like the same thing here. Rondo is high enough to dunk it, just looks like his timing is terrible.
