LeBron, lacking any real awareness, calls out Garnett and Pierce over trade

“I think the first thing I thought was, ‘Wow, Ray got killed for leaving Boston, and now these guys are leaving Boston,'” James said. “I think it’s OK; I didn’t mind it. But there were a couple guys who basically [expletive] on Ray for leaving, and now they’re leaving.

“That’s the nature of our business, man. I don’t know what Boston was going through at the end of the day. I know Ray had to make the best decision for him and his family and his career. Doc, KG and Paul did that as well. You can’t criticize someone who does something that’s best for their family.”

ESPN: Heat call out ex-Celts over Ray Allen

For all of LeBron’s amazing basketball ability, he has shown a real lack of self awareness when it comes to larger basketball matters.

This time around, LeBron James has taken to calling out Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett for [expletive]ing on Ray Allen for leaving the Celtics prior to last season.

There are a couple of obvious things wrong with this scenario, though.

1:  Unlike Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were traded.  Allen turned down more money in Boston to go to Miami. That was his choice to make as a free agent.  Paul Pierce was not a free agent.  Neither was Kevin Garnett.  And while the situation in Boston may have made it easier for both to accept that changes needed to be made, neither made overt demands to leave the Celtics and chase a ring.

2: Neither Pierce nor Garnett [expletive]’d on anyone.  Yes, KG was terse when asked about it, saying he’d lost Allen’s number or implying that he no longer talked to Allen after the move.  But there’s really no expletive that I can think of (and those who know me know I can think of a lot of them) that covers that.  In fact, Garnett and Pierce seemed to go out of their way to either talk around Allen’s departure, or say practically nothing at all.

3:  LeBron should just shut up about criticizing people’s reactions to player movement.  Only Dwight Howard did it in a more unseemly way.  This is where some self awareness kicks in.  Just leave that topic alone.

I know LeBron wants to defend his teammate and turn this into a “see, they’re the same way!” thing.  And I know he was probably asked the question.  But you don’t have to answer every question thrown at you, and if you do, have a little awareness so you don’t sound like an ass.

    Agreed.

Says the guy who will leave miami end of this season or next…………

  • Ron Flanders

LeBron isn’t going anywhere…but this just in…he’s still an ass. I know we’re all shocked to see this behavior.

  • adam

Ray made the decision to leave. Danny traded the other 2. yeah sure he asked them first but it was going to happen. Big difference there Lebron. Maybe someone should break it down for you, like they would a kindergartner.

    • adam

Also they didn’t have a half hour TV show to announce it.

  • tvor03

Only the way Doc left is comparable to Ray, and I think fans are shitting him just as much if not more than they did Ray. Pierce and KG would have gladly stayed in green, but they did what Ainge asked them to do and he put them in a situation to win.

As I recall, even Ray said that he still talks to KG…even after KG said he lost his phone number. Stupid bron bron

  • rob

    what a dumb-ass

Theres no bigger F U to your former team than joining their main rival and also teaming up with the biggest ego in the sport. Theres no similarities.

Are you guys going to write on your thoughts about rondos horrible espn ranking? I’d like to know what y’all think.

    • http://redsarmy.com/ John Karalis

those rankings are so arbitrary… there’s really no use in it. I don’t really pay attention to who’s ranked where.

      • wil

Bass is ranked higher than Sully and Klynyk, so we do know its bull.

    • wil

injury will do that to you, though he was in the top 10 for mvp just before he got injured lol

      • Mannie

I don’t think it’s due to injury. D.rose was ranked 6th last year and Bynum was up there too. It really is Bs

Not even close to the same situation. Crap like this is why Bron-bron is the most hated superstar in sports and it’s not even close.

Amusingly, LeBron used his own stupidity to validate his judgment of Pierce, etc. Because, since he crapped on Cleveland and was subsequently crapped on by Clevelanders, he is now an authority on being crapped on. And as an authority on the experience of being crapped on, he is able to finely judge the ways and manners in which others are crapped on. And from that high position of crapped-on-expertise, he can clearly see that the way Pierce crapped on Allen was like how Dan Gilbert crapped on him.

Except not as bad, because no one else gets to be crapped on as much as LeBron. Even in victimhood, LeBron’s primacy must not be questioned.

This is funny to me. If I were LeBron, I’m sure I wouldn’t be that obsessed with reminding everyone else that I’m the world’s leading authority on being crapped on. Even if I’m sticking up for my teammates. These lesser lights compared to my bright sun—like poor Ray, who bailed me out by making the 3 that I bricked in game 6.

But then, I’m not LeBron, who apparently has to be the number one person in everything, including being the number one recipient of number two to the head.

And, of course, when LeBron’s body breaks down from excessive HGH dosing (you know, like how D-Wade’s body is breaking down), he’ll still be an expert on the facial acquisition of airborne feces, and will always be eager to remind you how much he knows about the subject. And we’ll find out about all the other grudges that kept him, LeBron, motivated to go that extra mile, jab that extra needle in his butt, and just tuck that basketball up like a running back and take five steps on the way to a thundering dunk that will forever remind us, “LeBron”

  • LA Flake

Ray Allen who? Didn’t he use to play for the Bucks?

  • Jester00

Not to be butt-head but didn’t KG have no trade Clause?

  • wil

    Lebron is a tard

  • omitasub

Lebron shoulda went to college and got some education. LOL

  • jrleftfoot

LeBron is dumber than a rock.

maybe if LeFlop shut his mouth and just played basketball people would actually like him (which he seems to care so much about). Two biggest idiots in the league are hands down Crybaby Bron and The Circus Clown Dwight Howard

    • Mike Perry

Exactly Michael Jordan wont even be cool with Lebron because he thinks he is the NBA . Granted he is really talented but the Nba amped up this 18yearold out of highschool just like Kobe Bryant and …………… No one else . So yeah Those two cry babies need to shut up and win titles . oh yeah dont forget Lebron gave up his jersey so M.J. would respect him but M.J. is like f.u. L.J. you have to win four more rings before you can even breathe the same air as me .oh yeah the refs gave them that ring last season indiana got hosed lol.

What about Steve Kerr discussing it on the TNT broadcast not even having the balls to say Pierce was traded. Another LBJ kiss ass

  • rhow

heh. what about doc rivers, who preached ubuntu? and kg who would rather retire before playing for another coach? the only persuasion he needed to waive his no-trade clause was the prospect of winning another championship, just like how ray came to his decision. you’re cherry picking on lebron’s comments just because he was referring to pierce and garnett. but what if they were applied to doc rivers? simply put, there’s no telling of who’s the hypocrite based on what the media projects.
