Your Morning Dump… Where Danny Ainge knows nothing about Rondo’s timeline

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

1. Update on Rondo: Ainge was asked by Simmons when fans can expect to see Rondo (rehabbing after an ACL tear) back on the court playing for the Celtics.

“I’m not sure [when Rondo will be back],” Ainge said. “Rondo was working out [Tuesday] with all the guys. He’s not near 100 percent yet, but he’s out doing shooting drills and ball-handling drills. I really don’t have a date yet. We want to be careful with him, obviously. He’s hungry and anxious. I like the communication that’s going on between him and Brad [Stevens]. I think Rondo is looking forward to this stage of his career and, obviously he has to get healthy, but I think he really likes the challenge that’s ahead of him.”

2. Rondo rumors: Why there seems to always be so many trade rumors involving Rondo, whom Ainge called a “very special player.”

The media might as well stop asking because the Celtics organization isn’t going to offer a timetable for Rajon Rondo’s return. Brad Stevens lied to us last week and now Danny Ainge is towing the party line, too.

I get it. Setting a timetable over the summer only sets the table for controversy later IF Rondo has any sort of minor setback. The last thing we want is a Derrick Rose type situation. But there is a date. I just find it funny that the media accepts the blatant lying for truth.

I guess I still don’t understand why you guys keep saying they’re lying the way you do. I’ve read your posts, but I didn’t think it was nearly as bad as you are painting it. Help? In going to reread the other article in the meantime.

I agree. You are making something out of nothing Redsarmy. Stevens did not lie about anything.

+1 on that. It’s an injury, not a pregnancy. The timetable is rough and the truth is, the “date” is the day he’s 100% plus 2 weeks to 2 months after that. The media continually asking for the expected day, week, month, or this year/next year, is just pointless childishness. There’s no controversy worries or lying involved. They simply do not know.

There’s plenty of sarcasm in my accusations. And all teams – in every sport – are not 100% truthful regarding business.

The organization as a whole is usually very classy and stays out of the media fir things like this when they can. do they prolly have some idea more then likely will they ever admit it ? Of course not so who cares! So tired of all this the media wabts another d rose situation seems like so then they can talk and over analyz this. December would b great i think just so we know he isn’t rushing and its enough time to right the ship before playoffs I’m thinkin 8 seed against miami or maybe brooklyn

A glimmer of hope for Stevens being the right guy…

“I like the communication that’s going on between him and Brad [Stevens].”

Danny Ainge sounds so sad and lifeless in that podcast. Also I personally thought it weird that he twice refers to the trade that they made with New Jersey. Doesn’t he keep up with general NBA news? like where teams play?
