Report: Brad Stevens considering Walter McCarty for assistant coach

Chuck - Red's Army August 19, 2013 Celtics News, Walter McCarty 6 Comments

Former Red’s Army blogger Walter McCarty may be returning to the Celtics as an assistant coach.

I’m not sure if he’s the guy they “desperately need to coach Rajon Rondo.”

McCarty has little coaching experience. He had one year stints with Rick Pitino at Louisville and Jim O’Brien at Indiana.

    I LOVE…… WALTER!!!!!

Would rather have Posey–he won a championship here, he was more talented and Rondo played with him, which I think would help as well.

I’d prefer Walter. Posey was great while he was here, but it was just that one season-the “perfect season”. Walter knows the organization, played here for 9 years, has roots in the city & just gets what it is to “be a Celtic.” But most importantly knows what’s it like to struggle & lose a lot of games. That experience is something the younger guys on this team could find invaluable this season.
