Celtics rookie big man and Summer League phenom Kelly Olynyk will not play for Team Canada in the upcoming FIBA Americas Championships because of plantar fasciitis, reports Toronto Raptors radio analyst Eric Smith.

Plantar fasciitis – inflammation of the thick tissue on the bottom of the foot – can be a bitch of an injury for NBA big men.

Here’s hoping Olynyk is healed and healthy by the time training camp starts in mid-late September.

After watching him dominate the Orlando Summer League, it’s obvious Olynyk can play at a high level.

Here’s hoping we are injury prone and take long slow recoveries this season

Foot problems starting at age 22?

Damn, Kelly really has this “1974 Bill Walton” routine down to a science!

    Just our luck. Sigh.

Tommy had to retire because of that. I’d rather him not play for team Canada and rest up before training camp.

so instead of winning 36 games will only win 34?

Welcome to the snake bitten celtics. The jinx started in 1986 with Len Bias it was also the hiring of Ed Lacerte at that time. I think he’s the jinx, ever since we hired him its been nothing but injuries and deaths!!! Fire his bad luck ass!
