Doc Rivers doing an “amazing” job in LA so far

Chuck - Red's Army July 3, 2013 Around the NBA, Doc Rivers 14 Comments

If you haven’t heard, the Clippers pulled off a three-team trade with the Suns and Bucks that netted them J.J. Redick and Jared Dudley. Most analysts view this as a great deal for the Clippers.

It appears Doc Rivers was instrumental in luring Redick to Los Angeles.

Oh Doc, you’re one sexy beast.

I hope J.J. left a tip on the nightstand.

I’m really getting sick of all this sour grapes about Doc on the Cs blogs.

It didn’t make sense to pay a coach $7 million a year to coach this team, and Danny had to pull the trigger.

And since the Celtics weren’t competing this year anyways, I’m certainly happy to see a team coming together that will make the Lakers look bad at the Staples Center and will maybe give the Heat some hell in the finals.

I agree. Unless sarcasm is lost on me I think this is a positive story.

Both teams (C’s, Clippers) got what they needed. Unless we get Del Negro this should all blow over once a new coach is selected by DA

It’s fun as hell to see the Lakers teetering on the brink of obscurity as the Clippers slowly amass a very competitive, exciting team. Full-page ads and giant billboards begging D-Douche to stay. MUAHHHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I’d be very interested to see how Doc coaches against the Celtics this year. As for the Flakers, I don’t know if you live out here, KWAPT, but it’s hilarious to watch all these Flaker fans hoping against all odds for DH to stay. Losers.

I’m happy he is gone. Pissed he wanted to leave.

  • Amir Buxbaum

He wanted Redick on the C’s roster for a long time. Doesn’t surprise me one bit

  • adam

I am glad he had this type of pull with the c’s. got rasheed wallace, shaq, courtney lee, jason terry. ooh yeah.

Doc isn’t just the head coach in LA. He’s also their VP. All those Rondo for CP rumors we can safely assume now that Doc was the driving force behind those potential deals.

Although Doc did jump ship..I wish him the best, Redick would have been useful in green.

Don’t see what the big scream is over Doc Rivers other than the fact he is chummy with the players and attracts those players to his team. Chummy does not make for a great coach. I for one was happy to see him go. His coaching has been questionable too many times to count. And all the times he would say something critical about his team’s play instead looking in the mirror and asking why he is not coaching his players to do what they’re supposed to do. Moving forward, a young, very smart defense-oriented coach is needed. Surely Danny has someone in mind.

I agree. Doc was outcoached by Eric Spolestra. Hell, he was outcoached by Mike Woodson. MIKE EFFIN’ WOODSON!

I keep asking myself how long it’s going to take for this not to hurt. When am I gonna be able to watch SportsCenter again without leaving pissed off?!?

I wanna be happy for Doc because I just love and respect him as a coach and a person, but selfishly, I’m really not. I miss him and I’m worried about his replacement.

I really hope he’ll coach for like, 10 more years and come back to us one day, however unlikely that may be… :(

That being said, I’ll still root for the Clippers against exactly 3 teams this season: Heat, Knicks and Lakers.

    Go Celtics.

  • RedsLoveChild

Yeah, Doc was the reason Redick wanted to go to LA…..warm weather and that $27M contract LA just gave him had nothing to do with it at all!

  • Joanne Tran

Awesome for Doc. Still think they’ll get knocked out the first round.
