Stephen A. hints that Doc is tired of Danny’s face

Chuck - Red's Army June 10, 2013 Celtics News, Doc Rivers 13 Comments

What I’m hearing is… he’s obviously strongly considering and leaning towards staying but it’s not etched in stone.

The bottom line, the relationship has worn on one another. There are no situations where Doc Rivers does not like or does not respect Danny Ainge, it’s nothing like that. It’s just after working with someone for years and years and years, you’re willing to entertain new challenges.

… things in Boston are not what they used to be. Not for any negative reasons, it’s just that working with somebody all the time, you get tired of hearing the same voice, you get tired of seeing the same face. And when it comes to Danny Ainge and Doc Rivers that very well may be the case. Doc Rivers hasn’t told me that but those are the kinds of things I’ve been hearing…

I’m a bit disappointed that Rece Davis didn’t ask Stephen if there were any new developments on the absurd KG, Pierce and Doc Rivers to the Clippers for Blake Griffin, Eric Bledsoe and Caron Butler trade scenario Smith’s blowhole secreted last month.

I understand the “tired of the same voice/face” point. I’ve worked with John in various capacities for the past 12 years. Trust me, I get it.

After my last “incident,” we decided it’s best to work remotely.

Well I’m tired of Stephen A. Smith face, and his stupid rumors too.

  • Red’s Cigar

He basically just said “He might stay or he might leave”. Awesome reporting Stephen Smith. I refuse to say the A.

    • LA Flake

But that’s the best part of his name. Stephen “Ass” Smith.

  • tvor03

I think this is Stephen A’s way of saying that he’s sick of Skip Bayless.

    • Chulinho

      Who isn’t?

  • RED`S LOVE CHILD

Change is good….Ainge might want to create a short list of coaching candidates to interview.

Even if Rivers stays–which most Celtic fans seem to hope for—they`ll be paying $7M this year to a guy who really “isn`t into it” any longer.

Stephen A. Smith might sound like a mental patient at times, but there has to be some truth to what he’s saying, because he keeps reiterating the same talking points in regards to Doc and the Celtics.

Sources? Really? Stephen A Smith has sources on the Celtics? Come on. 80% of the time he makes stuff up on purpose just to get attention, start fights, be controversial etc. It’s his job.

I translate this to mean ‘Stephen A Smith can’t think of any other explanation for why Doc isn’t openly committing to officially being back yet.’ I think that’s dumb. It’s not hard to tell when Doc really doesn’t like somebody.

Seriously, didn’t we all figure this out already? It’s Doc being loyal to Pierce and to what he wants for the team, without making it a public fight in the press. The Stephen A Smith sort of media want it all to be a public fight in the press, but the Celtics are just not the Knicks or Lakers. They are keeping the family business in house.

That’s awesome, right? The only down side is that we as fans are now playing a waiting game…17 days till the draft and 20 days until the deadline on Pierce’s buyout. Something will happen around or a little before that window if anything is going to happen.

Exactly. If this was the Lakers it’d be all over SportsCenter… I haven’t seen any coverage of this on ESPN yet, just here at RA.

Funny clip- I like how the other guys dont even react to the ass-whipping that one suit drops on the other.

I dont see Doc walking away from the best coach contract in the league to go work for a bigot like Sterling, or anyone else. I think I’d rather lose DA, tough call on that one. Go C’s, Go Spurs!

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA that was effing great. I can just picture you two doing that! Still laughing at work. Anyway, this whole thing is definitely really annoying but enough with this SAS crap. He said the same thing a month ago, and like Chuck said, it is just him guessing. “I’m hearing he’s tired of his face???” Really? Wasn’t the whole reason he signed the extension was because he has a great working relationship with Management and that he wants to be loyal to them. Stupid
