Your Morning Dump… Where Larry Bird wants $5 million and ownership from Kings

Chuck - Red's Army June 6, 2013 Around the NBA, Larry Bird, The Morning Dump 9 Comments

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

Kings owner meeting with Larry Bird today means decision on hiring president is on hold. Source says asking 5M per, maybe piece of team

Bird’s name first surfaced last week in a story by ESPN’s Marc Stein that tabbed Chris Wallace as the front-runner for the Kings GM job.

Larry left the Pacers a year ago due to health issues. If he does want back in the grind, I would assume he’d return to Indiana and finish building a championship team.

I can’t imagine Larry moving west to rebuild the Kings, unless the new ownership group drops an obscene amount of money in his lap. Even then, I doubt Bird would leave the comforts of Indiana.

Speaking of legends, Julius Erving – a special consultant to the 76ers – had this to say about dealing with Danny Ainge and anyone associated with the Celtics:

“When you talk to the Lakers, when you talk to the Celtics, when you talk to – well, those two in particular – the guy on the other end of the phone has his fingers crossed,” Erving said. “So whatever he’s telling you, he’s not telling you the truth. He’s working a deal for him. And what happened to us last year with getting damaged goods hopefully will only happen once. And that’s the extent of that learning curve.”

As Frank Leone once said, “D.T.A. Don’t trust anybody.”

All this talk about Dr. J and Bird reminds me of …

Wow.. nobody got suspended for the fight ? no ejections? the action resumes? I want the 80’s back in NBA.

Not only that but Tommy + Mike commentating on the fight like its normal, funny hearing them now-a days getting pissy when a flagrant is downgraded or not called.

Why would the Kings want Chris Wallace? He’s nearly as bad as Kahn.

He’s credited with building Memphis… acquiring Gasol, Z-Bo, etc.

What deals did the 6ers have with the celtics that DR J is all pissy about

  • KGino

Idk what he’s so mad about, it’s not like Bynums knee issues (and mental issues) weren’t well documented in LA. If I’m GM of the sixers, there’s NO WAY I make that trade!

5 mil and some ownership is about right considering you would have to live in Sac-town.

ps…….every time I hear someone go om about how classy Dr J is/was I just think of him punching Karry while Moses holds him from behind……..yeah, that’s classy

hmm. let me think. I’ve got one of two options. maybe dr. j is right. or, let me suggest, the person in sixer mgt who thought andrew bynum was healthy or might get healthy enough to make a difference was simply an idiot.

    I’ll go with b
