Enemy Chatter: Knicks players, media and fans are panicking

We often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics. Here’s a look at some enemy chatter from New York.

Go ahead and be afraid, New Yorkers. Your basketball team just wore black to another team’s burial — a really dumb thing to do — only for that team to rise from the crypt and turn this first-round series into something more frightening than a zombie film.

So yes, be afraid, Knicks fans. Be very, very afraid.

ESPN New York – Time to tap panic button

Anthony, whose voice was shaky afterward, said the Knicks still are in good postion.

Odds are the Knicks are going to win this series, three being bigger than two and so forth. I understand that. I will say, though, that: 1. It does not feel that way in my tummy even a little. 2. I want to go back to Friday and headbutt the grin off my own face.

Poasting and Toasting – “Don’t do this to me.”

Amazing what a difference a few days can make. I encourage you to read all three of the articles linked above. Read the comments, too.

Are the Celtics going to pull off a miracle and win this series? I have no idea.

But I’m enjoying the ride.

  • My stomach is in knots – what a rollercoaster. I was at the game on Sunday, worried it would be KG last game. Then they pulled out an OT win and then last nights win. I just can’t wait until tomorrow. This is the exact reason that I love bleeding green. This is the addiction of the Celtics!

  • I still don’t have a ton of confidence we’ll pull this out, but this is already embarrassing for the Knicks, and they’ve shown they are totally incapable of hanging with elite teams.

    • You said it exactly right. Chances are the Knicks win this, but this has already showed us why maturity is important even in the context of basketball. It’s a requirement in order to win.

Atleast we have some hope now, I lost all hope when we went down 3-0 because of the way we lost it. The Knicks looked like the superior team all 3 games. In game 4 it was about even but we pulled it, yesterday we finally looked like the better team for a game.

        • Exactly. I just don’t want my hopes to get too high though because I know how low the chances are of any team winning four in a row in the playoffs, especially when you’re the 7 seed playing a 2 seed and were down 3-0! I’ve just been watching every game as though it’s potentially the last I will see of KG and Pierce, just admiring everything, taking it all in. The last 2 wins have been just an incredible added bonus to that, and I would love so much for that to continue, but I know it will be tough and a lot to ask!

      • Not a shot at you by any means, but I don’t get why everyone speaks of maturity – I’d say it’s more to do with attitude. Camby, Martin and Kidd are old as the hills. Yet Martin, along with Smith, have been leading the team in poor attitudes. Seriously, Smith elbowing Terry and getting himself kicked out of 1.5 games was one of the dumbest things I’ve seen.

        • Hm, I think you maybe have a different definition of maturity. I wasn’t referring to age. Maturity sometimes comes with age, sometimes doesn’t. To be honest, I’m surprised guys like Kidd and Camby allowed that kind of ridiculous stuff to happen. I do have respect for them. Martin is a solid player, and he’s a veteran player, but not in my wildest dreams would I call him mature.

I can’t tell if I’m just a homer, or if there is no team as exciting as the Celtics. Would I feel this way as a Hawks fan? I’m blessed to never have to take that question seriously.

  • Nash

I just hope we maintain the same seriousness that we did for yesterday’s game over the next 2. Also let’s hope Crawford ‘s comments to Melo at the end of last night’s game just make him wanna chuck 40 shots against us tomorrow.

    • Chulinho

Let’s also hope that 40 of those shots don’t go through the hoop.
