Enemy Chatter: Smith talks golf, insults Jason Terry

Chuck - Red's Army April 30, 2013 Enemy Chatter, Gametime 17 Comments

We often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics. Here’s a look at some enemy chatter from New York.

J.R. Smith thinks the New York Knicks would have swept the Boston Celtics if he had played in Game 4 of their first-round series.

“Oh yeah, it would’ve been over,” Smith said after Tuesday’s practice. “I’d have been playing golf today.”

The NBA suspended Smith for Game 4 after the Sixth Man Award winner threw an elbow atJason Terry‘s chin late in Game 3.

Smith watched on television Sunday as the Celtics defeated the Knicks 97-90 in overtime to avoid elimination and extend the series. Terry scored nine points in overtime.

Asked about Terry on Tuesday, Smith said, “Who? I don’t even know who that is.”

ESPN New York

The Celtics do their fair share of trash talking, but the Knicks are really pushing it.

First, Keynon Martin told his teammates to prepare for a funeral.  And now, JR Smith is yapping about a sweep and ignoring Jason Terry.

Why would they want to say anything that could inspire the Celtics?

Just a friendly reminder to the Knicks and their fans. You haven’t won a playoff series in 13 years.

wow whole lot of effort he put in to that insult…like we’ve never seen anyone play the “who?” game before…

The Knicks are a joke of a franchise. They have zero chance of making the finals this year and if there were one team in the NBA capable of blowing a 3-0 lead, it would be this crew. If the Celtics weren’t completely depleted due to injuries this would be a blowout the other way around. I don’t want to hear that bullshit about Boston fans being cocky without Rondo either. Almost everyone in this city said they would be better in the regular season and worse in the playoffs without him. The Knicks can enjoy this round but they should never lose sight of the fact that they haven’t won a title for 40 years. If I were anyone on that team, I would keep my mouth shut until I actually did something in the playoffs. But hey, they are the Knicks so why would I think they would behave in a manner that resembled championship level character. Suck it New York.

My Knick fan friends are all decent people but they still blindly support the Knicks and think they are something special…its kinda funny but its been killing me this year because every time I’ve gone out to watch a Knick/Celtics game it goes horribly for us so I can’t talk! How hilarious would it be if the Celtics made history and won the series! HAH!

My husband was a Knicks fan and actually switched to the Celtics after the Isaiah era. He’s a huge basketball fan so this was a big deal. His family is horrified and keep asking him if he’s going to switch back now, but he says he’s good. The Celtics are just a superior organization.

        • forever_green

          That’s funny, Isaiah converted him.

I understand the trash talking, but you guys aren’t the Heat and you haven’t won anything yet. Yeah, the C’s put this on themselves by letting the Knicks think they’re way better than what they are, but wait until the series is officially over.

    • eddysamson

Actually we’ve won what like 20 playoff series in that time since the Knick’s last won series? Most of those came on years we were dealing with injuries as well.

  • forever_green

Imagine if the C’s won this series…how great would that be.

The who game really. Well let me tell you exactly who Jason Terry is JR he is the guy with one more ring than your ZERO rings. That’s who he is – the JET!

    • eddysamson

and he didnt even get carried to win it…he did like 25% of the carrying, actually

Hope the Knicks org enjoys hanging up that Division Banner next year, cause that’s all they’re gonna get.

This reminds me of the year the Dolphins won the division when Brady was out. That false sense of superiority going into the next year was laughable.

I’ll support Jr.Smith too when he’s ready to come out the closet. Kidding, folks.

Is anyone surprise about Smith or Kenyon? These two are the classic case of head-case NBA players that can’t stay with a team and will likely not be remembered post-careers. Let them have their moment, because they’re not use to winning. I mean, the Knicks are the 2 seed by default. Injuries to Rose, Rondo, Bynum and Granger opened a smoother path to possibly challenge the Heat in this year’s ECF.

There’s been a lot of chatter from this Knicks team. They’re old, cocky and knuckle heads. I thought Chris Bosh had a great response towards the Knicks on 04/02/13.

“Everybody has confidence against us until we take it away,” said Bosh, who led the Heat with 23 points. “They’re a good team.” He added of the playoffs, “They can feel like they have a chance, but I like our chances.”

Agreed about the Knicks but really Boshtrich should shutup too. Ha
