Recap: Knicks drop three-point barrage on Celtics

Chuck - Red's Army March 31, 2013 Celtics News, Gametime, Recaps 8 Comments

I knew this one was over when Raymon Felton nailed that 45-footer at the halftime buzzer. That triple was one of 14 three-pointers made by New York in tonight’s 108-89 win over the Celtics.

As Doc always says, it’s a make or miss league. The Knicks (48% FG, 51% 3FG) made and the Celtics (43% FG, 28% 3FG) missed.

The hemorrhoid on this crap sundae is Paul Pierce’s sore right foot. He sat on the bench with an ice pack on his foot for the entire 4th quarter. Don’t be surprised if he sits out tomorrow night’s game vs Minnesota.

The Green:

Another superb all-around effort by the Truth; 24 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Jeff Green led all scorers with 27 points on 10-14 FG.

The Gross:

Avery Bradley’s shooting. He had 2 points on 1-5 FG.

I know Jason Terry (8 points, 3-7 FG) is saving himself for the playoffs, but can someone tell him it’s okay to score during regular season games?

Greenlights:

The Grid:

  • Jordan Crawford was a team high -23
  • Pierce had more rebounds than Chris Wilcox, Brandon Bass, Jeff Green, Shavlik Randolph and DJ White combined.

The overall effort level in this game, both offense and defensively, was just horrible. We can’t play proper defense without KG and I truly just don’t get it. Fundamental basketball is just not with this team…

I completely agree. I said the same to myself as I was watching. It’s so transparent that when KG is off the court the defense drops off by a large margin. But these guys need to learn how to play defense when Garnett is off the floor. I can’t grasp why guys like Wilcox, Green, Bass, Terry and Crawford can’t understand defensive rotations? Right now Wilcox, Bass and Terry have be useless and not providing help in the absence of Rondo, Garnett, Sully and Barbosa. The depth on this roster is lacking right now.

How many open 3’s did the Knicks get tonight? Why is it that the C’s disappear during the second quarter, because it’s been a trend the past 7 games. I’m not going to read too much into this loss, because it’s not indicative of a possible match up between NYK and BOS. But the C’s need to get their act together or else they’ll be going home in the playoffs quick whether the Heat, Pacers, Knicks or Nets. Playing 48 mins of basketball shouldn’t be that difficult for the C’s.

well, the real question is why doc keeps putting guys like terry and crawford on jr smith? and why isn’t one of our pit bulls starting? is it because doc has to start bass at all cost? and who has a longer leash on this team: paul pierce, jeff green or jordan crawford?

“The Savior” not showing-up (again) on Easter?

    Hey Chuck,
it’s alright, bro. Them Knicks are reeeeeeeal terrified of the Celtics!

“Can someone tell Terry its ok to score during the regular season,” (Classic). Thanks Chuck, I needed a laugh. I guess at this point in the season, keeping our sense of humor may be all we have left. Seriously, has there ever been a more Hot or Cold player than Jason Terry? One word for you Terry…CONSISTENCY!

  • Shady Kid

I expected more of a effort after seeing Rondo on the bench. First quarter C’s had momentum. Last three quarters only thing they did was chuck up three’s. hopefully KG can come back and round out the defense. But without consistantcy game after game the C’s aren’t going to make it far.
