Last time

I have a vague recollection of the Celtics blowing a 27-point lead in a loss to the Hawks on Jan. 25. However, I vividly remember the Celtics rallying from a 19-point deficit to beat Atlanta on Jan. 5.

This time

Get it to:  Paul Pierce

DeShawn Stevenson is a tough defender, but Pierce has a a couple inches and 20 pounds on him. Will Doc put the Truth in the post and see if he can take advantage of the size difference and draw some fouls?

Gotta stop:  Al Horford

Over his last ten games, Horford is averaging 24 points (on 63% shooting) and 11 rebounds. Big Al doesn’t kill you with post moves, but with a short to midrange jumper. Celtics will need their legs as Horford can run the breek. He’s also mobile enough to stick with KG on the perimeter.

The Wild Card:  The Celtics perimeter shooting

The Hawks are a top-10 defensive team, but their Achilles heel is three-point shooting. They’re allowing opponents to shoot 38% – 3rd worst in the league. If the Celtics swing the ball, they should get uncontested looks.

How we see it goin’ down

The Celtics are coming home after sweeping a mini 2 game road trip in Philly and Indiana. Now they get the Hawks – a team 1 game ahead of them in the playoff seeding.

These teams are evenly matched, making this one impossible to predict.

I’d like to think they’ll seize the moment, but I have a bad feeling we’ll see the flat Celtics tonight.

Celtics  90

Hawks  95

Another brilliant prediction…I assume you can at least see a way that the celtics could win, unlike the other day where one of the writers on this site said celts have no shot vs. Pacers…a truly useless thing to say, still pissed about it too.

  • Chuck – Red’s Army

I know you don’t put much stock in scheduled losses and tired legs, but a lot of people do. And that’s what he was referring to.

Of course I see a way they can win. But its so hard to predict this team. I don’t enjoy these previews.

    • Larry Legend

No I get tired legs, but they just came off a 1 game in 7 day stretch! So no I wasn’t buying that. But the real point was the no way the celts win comment…absolutely ignorant thing to say. Screams that he has no idea about the competitive spirit of elite athletes…

And let’s be clear I dont care what Hawks record is…they suck. Celts should never lose to them.

I expect a win. The C’s should be way ahead of these guys in the standings. That will drive them tonight. To victory.

    Gino & Vino.

    Refferees for tonight’s game….fantastic!

    • Ryan

      I thought that was hysterical!

  • 91-83 Celtics win!

Celtics definitely did not forget that agonizing collapse in ATL in January. They will be out for blood tonight in front of a raucous home crowd (which I’ll be part of) on ESPN. I’m hoping I’m right and the C’s come out fired-up and ready to win. With Pachulia most likely out with a sore Achilles, I’m thinking the Hawks could be the flat ones. He’s the closest thing they have to an “energy guy”. Teague will be looking to attack the paint, but I have faith our guards will do a great job slowing him down.

    id say 89-73 celtics win.

lol bass is getting almost 30 minutes a game since sully went out.

  • Certifiable

Awful prediction, celts should easily handle the hawks tonight but what do I know.

  • Yeah I’m not buying a loss to Atlanta on OUR court. After our last encounter… Yeah it’s not happening

  • GreenbirdCro

Yet another reason to get a W today is OKC game on Sunday (which will be far more harder IMHO). Would hate that we go back to L streaks. I can live with one once & awhile… Go Cs!

  • Gil305

Yahoo just posted that the Pierce for Smith trade almost happened near the deadline…..steam for The Truth. He puts up 30, C’s win by 10

(………..if we don’t let Korver go crazy SMH)

Out of everyone I’m going to be watching doc, he needs to cut bass’s minutes tonight, and dj white should be the one taking those minutes. C’mon doc be a good coach.
