Shavlik Randolph is unlikely to see the court outside of garbage time, but that doesn’t mean we can’t take some time to get to know the man.
In an interview with CSNNE’s Jess Camerato, Randolph spoke about his extensive dance background and renown Michael Jackson impersonation:
“I love playing the piano,” Randolph enthusiastically told CSNNE.com. “I love playing the piano and I do a mean Michael Jackson impression dancing.”
As for his King of Pop impersonations, Randolph learned to dance when his parents enrolled him in classes as a child.
“Man, I feel kind of embarrassed,” he laughed. “I took ballroom, took ballet, took hip hop and jazz.”
Looking back, his moves on the dance floor helped him with footwork on the basketball court. He still likes to show off his fancy feet years later.
“(I like) anything Michael Jackson,” Randolph said. “To me, he’s the greatest of all time. That’s something not a lot of people know about me.”
As it turns out, Randolph’s dancing skills are not a hidden talent. He showed off his MJ impersonation at a CBA FanFest (scroll ahead to 2:15 mark):
Got me thinking… How does Shav compare to the greatest dancer in Garden history, Gino?
